Listening Post

Directed by John Hillcoat, the new video from Trent Reznor's side project with his wife, How To Destroy Angels, is appropriately dark and spare -- and it actually features a beach that looks quite a bit like the one from The Road.

The music, though, perfectly fits Hillcoat's aesthetic.

Here's Ice Age.

Yeah, no.

I'm trying REAL hard to like HTDA, but Yoko Ono -- I mean, uh, Mariqueen Whatever -- has sucked all the mojo out of Reznor.

I keep wanting the South Park kids to do an anti-Succubus intervention on him.

Im a huge NiN/Reznor fan but I've been on the fence about HTDA. This video just sealed it. Good Song and great video. Thanks for the post!

Everyone keeps comparing Trent's gf to Yoko Ono. Its fucking racist. I'm saying it. The only thing they have in common is being Asian women.

I don't want to be that person, but this shit needs to be said. Its disgusting me how often the comparison is made.

I'm all for calling out racism when I see it, but bullshit -- it's not racism. Race -- or ethnicity really -- has nothing to do with it. The argument is made because right or wrong it's an article of faith for some that Yoko ruined the Beatles. Reznor's wife, some say -- I happen not to agree -- is ruining his musical output, which I think they expect to remain Nine Inch Nails forever. I don't mind Trent branching out. I like this stuff. I like his soundtrack stuff. I love NIN. I expect him to evolve and he's not my personal jukebox so whatever the hell makes him happy.

I dunno if you can classify this as a side project. The dude does so many side projects (most of which rock) that I'd almost consider NiN a "side project" now.
