I did a quadruple take when I saw that. He's certainly entitled to his opinion, but it's just a weird convergence. Heavy metal musician endorses sweater-vest wearing, uber-Catholic conservative politician.
Mustaine's a full-on Republican Born Again. To go along with the fact that he's always been an insufferable prick.
And I thought I followed rock music and politics pretty closely. I knew his bass player was in seminary here in St. Louis, but I had no idea about Mustaine.
Mustaine sounds like the stuff you use to clean up the Santorum.
@ Steven: Actually, it's not as weird as you think it is. Alice Cooper endorsed McCain back in 2008, and Blackie Lawless did the same thing. There's some weird thing with former eighties heavy metal musicians getting into bed with Republican politicians these days. Maybe they're all kissing and making up after that PRMC thing.
Wow. I had such a crush on him when he was all over MTV during Clinton's first presidential campaign. Now I feel the need for an acid bath to wash away the shame.
Except he hasn't endorsed Santorum. For someone who claims to be all hip and with it and in the news business you certainly don't know fuckall about this situation, for you it's just another excuse to lie and shit over someone you never liked in the first place. But since you obviously aren't interested in letting all sides be heard, I'm going to give you Mustaine's comments on the issue: "Contrary to how some people have interpreted my words, I have not endorsed an presidential candidate. What I did say was that I hope to see a Republican in the White House. I've seen good qualities in all the candidates but by no means have I made my choice yet. I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daugher, but I never used the word 'endorse.'"Now I'm sure you'll either ignore and refuse to post this comment because you're desperately clinging to the whole uber douche hipster thing or you will try and parse Mustaine's comments to death to try and make it seem as if he maybe sorta kinda did endorse Santorum. But you can't because he quite clearly states that he didn't. To write otherwise is to falsely put words in his mouth. But you'd know all about that sort of shit with your vaunted background as an award winning news producer, wouldn't you Chez?So pull on some big boy pants, man the fuck up for once and apologize to your readers and to Mustaine for lying about him AND for putting words in his mouth.
Dave? Dave? Is that you? Holy shit -- Dave Mustaine everybody. Hey, Dave -- you're a worthless cunt and your band sucks.(I threw you a bone on this one, Ben, because -- after, what, five years? -- you're still a dumb-ass anonymous troll. At least it shows perseverance.)
You know, I feel so much shame right now. I used to love this man. I proclaimed Megadeth far superior to Metallica and Mustaine the reason Metallica's first album was so great. I have actually gone to bat for this guy, and now I feel as though I'm an accessory to Santorum's shitpile. I truly feel like I've been betrayed, as stupid as that sounds. He's free to endorse whom he pleases, but good grief I thought he had more sense than that.
Got to get a kick out of the guy posting anon. demanding you put your big boy pants on.But Megadeth did fucking rock...and no political endorsement can change that.
