How about the theory where the women get eaten not because they're women or Americans but specifically because they're Beyonce, Britney, and Pink? I like that theory.

pea, exactly! Notice it was made by a guy named Tarsem Singh, from India...not the most enlightened place for women either.
Tarsem's pretty well known, particularly for his visuals. He directed The Cell and the Losing My Religion video for REM.
Jesus, Tarsem, huh? He's actually a Sikh, and Sikhs have a pretty good record when it comes to gender equality. Wish he made better movies - all style, no substance.
