Quote of the Day

"I want to report a rape. I feel as if my body -- or, at least my body of work -- has been violated by the movie, The Artist."

-- The first line of an ad in Variety taken out by Kim Novak in which the star of Vertigo complains that the recent, nearly silent film The Artist samples a line from Bernard Hermann's score for the Hitchcock classic

See, this is why Garbo made the wise choice to disappear from public life: She knew that eventually all aging starlets wind up looking like ridiculous, self-important caricatures who just need to shut the hell up for their own good, lest they end up sullying their legacies by melodramatically accusing movie producers of "rape."
