I was going to post the new Van Halen single, Tattoo, this morning because I still have fond memories of the band and of Diamond Dave. But then I heard it and it's quite possibly the worst song in the history of recorded music.
So, hey, there's always this catchy little track from Fun.
Here's We Are Young.

Wow, that VH song BLOWS. No wonder they abandoned it years ago. The video is worse, and you can sense both Eddie's annoyance with Dave and his desperation to make something work. Wonder how long it will take for that fake smile to wear off.
Yup. That's honestly one of the worst rock songs I've ever heard. It's the kind of thing that never could've gotten released if it wasn't Van Halen behind it. By the way, if you get a chance, go to YouTube and check out some of the clips from VH doing their live set in NYC last week. They sound fucking awful.
In the meantime, Sammy and Mike are drinking Cabo Wabo tequila and counting their money. And I thought the Gary Cherone stuff was bad.
I can't listen to it right now but based on the visuals... wow.
I'm gonna apply Denis Leary's Elvis theory here: somebody should've shot Roth in the back of the head in 1985 so he could be remembered as somebody people liked.
Oh damn, it sucks AND blows. The radio DJ had this disclaimer: "Ok, make sure you give this song a good listen before you pass judgement." I'm thinking he's not happy about being forced to listen to it over & over until the next "big" single comes out...
you couldn't get me to voluntarily listen to VH for love, money or a handful of orange barrels.
that said i appreciated the above tune as it caused me to quit listening to Trower's Bridge of Sighs Lp for the first time since New Years....
That Van Halen song was so bad that my netbook decided to reboot itself after it was done playing. It was as if it were saying "screw you, I'm getting this out of my memory ASAP."
I think Van Halen should just call it a day. Their days of cock rock glory are over.
Listening to this made me think of Hervé Villechaize. I think that about sums it up.
