Quote of the Day

"He put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals. He also grabbed my head and brought it to his crotch."

-- Sharon Bialek, who claims that Herman Cain sexually harassed her in 1997

Actually the claim would be sexual assault, not harassment.

Okay, so I admit it -- I may despise Gloria Allred with the fire of a thousand suns but her client is telling one hell of a story. I'm not going to bother trying to pick apart how credible she is, whether what she's saying is true or a complete fabrication; I'm just going to approach it from a political and media perspective and say flat-out that Cain won't be able to run and hide from this. Not anymore.

He may be innocent. He may be guilty as sin.

Either way, he's pretty screwed.

Update: Here's the video of the press conference. By the way, is it just me or does Bialek bear an uncanny resemblance to Allred offspring Lisa Bloom?

Glenn Greenwald Honorary Update #2: Well, at least now we know what Cain's jobs plan entails.

Well if you can't fingerbang a chick in return for helping her find a job, what is this country coming to?

Wow. That "Give every male member of Congress a blowjob Act" joke you made on the podcast seems eerily appropriate now.

Dammit, Cain, what the hell? I mean, no way in hell did I want you to win, but I at least hoped you would be seen as the loon you are and fade away, instead of this crap.

And did you really have to be so cartoonish with this? And you left yourself open for all kinds of "where the white wimmin at?" digs too.

Jeez dude. Next time you want to make yourself look like an utter dickhead, just save us a ton of drama and punch a dolphin.

Allred: like an immortal fly that keeps getting attracted to a different piece of shit from time to time. Unreal.

UP NEXT:
I have confession to make. I worked for Senator Rick Santorum and he well, he well, he violated me with a jack rabbit at Bitchie's nightclub on K Street. I'm holding a presser with my atty, Mark Geragos tomorrow.

That's it: the GOP has a grand plan and they might just pull it off. Running this lunatic fringe makes Mitt Romney look, dare I say it: normal?

There are just some things in life I have a real hard time with.

The second guitar solo of Reelin' in the years.

Reading anything with a Hitler comparison.

Believing anyone while Gloria Allred is standing next to them.

If I don't support the Libertarian in a protest vote, I will probably support the Republican....so I was really hoping Cain would falter anyway (he's not presidential material.)

That said, I don't like the he said/she said bullshit. I am always suspicious when a black man is painted with ever over-sexed negro/where the white women at stereotype.

In this case, I'm even more suspicious because if this woman's story were true....not just sexual harassment but full on sexual assault by the head of National Restaurant Association...I have a hard time she would have stayed quiet at the time.

I could be entirely wrong though. Cain could be the stereotypical caricature of the oversexed black man who can't keep his hands off the white women.

But that story just goes nowhere with me when told by someone standing next to Gloria Allred.

Something about this whole smells fishy.

Agreed, Steven (and Kanye). I was actually surprised to see progressives (kind of jokingly) gang up on Cain on Twitter with the fact that she's a blonde Republican. I actually wondered what would happen if it were a Democratic black man under fire for the same thing. It's interesting that Cain supposedly doesn't try to play the card and yet the very first thing I thought was, "Wow, using the word of a white blonde woman to accuse a black guy of not being able to keep it in his pants. Where the hell have I heard that before?"

I think Cain probably is a bit of a lech, considering the number of people who are making this same claim -- but I'm not sure I buy this woman's story. And you're right -- she's standing next to Gloria Allred.

"thing"...my comment should read "whole thing".

It should also be read as double entendre. :)

@Kanye: Don't explain...and thanks for putting that image in my head.

1. There are more than 400,000 members of the American Bar Association.

2. The story is big enough on its own that Bailek could have gotten national attention if she'd hired Hamilton Berger to represent her.

Why the hell hire Gloria Allred and make that the biggest knock against credibility our of the starting gate?

Nathan

To the best of my knowledge, Hamilton Berger only won one case his entire career, and that was because opposing counsel made his case for him.

Perhaps Hamilton Berger would be the only attorney worse than Allred :)
