Assistant Quote of the Day

"To help the president of the United States, let's go to the microfiche. All you have to do if you're the president is go to the Department of Health, or whatever, and release the microfiche."

-- Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff and living cartoon character Joe Arpaio, who's now demanding that President Obama produce his birth certificate on a microfiche

You'll remember that a couple of months back Yosemite Joe announced that he had formed a "posse," presumably of old senile white guys just like him, to get to the bottom of the whole birth certificate cold case and bring that dadgum varmint Barack Obama to justice.

I swear, I'm pretty sure Arpaio was one of the first people I gunned down in Red Dead Redemption.

Jesus H. FUCKING Christ! When will we be rid of these douchebags? The fucking certificate was produced, in the fabled "long form", no less. Now we find out it's not real unless it's on a microfiche? Doesn't this idiot understand that Hawaii may not be stuck with eighties technology? He really is going to just keep moving the goalposts and claiming that the other team hasn't scored yet.

I think this guy hasn't realized that horses are an outmoded way of transportation or that the Civil War ended 146 years ago. Or is he an extra from the set of Westworld? He doesn't know Yule Brenner does he?

Well it's only a matter of going to the local library and pulling that information up on microfiche. There are still libraries in Maricopa County right?
Maybe the pink underwear manufacturers put the libraries out of business there. I don't know, because I haven't been to Arizona in a while because I haven't had a need to buy a glock.

"To help the president of the United States, let's have him resign. All you have to do if you're the president is resign because I don't like you and am resorting to ridiculous mental gymnastics and denial of proof to keep myself from having to admit that you received a majority of electoral votes and are therefore the president."

This is just more of Arpaio trying to deflect attention from the fact that he is being investigated by the Feds (and also as some kind of payback for it). A lot of the dirt that he's created is starting to come to the surface (ie, ethics hearing of Andrew Thomas, firing of Dep. Fox, etc) and he is public persona is suffering.

Furthermore, we do indeed have libraries here in Maricopa County and some of them do still use microfiche...particularly the Mormon genealogy libraries. He is simply appealing to his conservative and elderly nutso base by referring to anachronistic technology.

I've never heard of Red Dead Redemption, but if it gives me the opportunity to gun down this asshole, I will have it.

Not many cogent political arguments are noted for their use of the phrase "...or whatever..."
