Quote of the Day

"The Tea Party is increasingly swimming against the tide of public opinion: among most Americans, even before the furor over the debt limit, its brand was becoming toxic. To embrace the Tea Party carries great political risk for Republicans, but perhaps not for the reason you might think... Polls show that disapproval of the Tea Party is climbing... In data we have recently collected, the Tea Party ranks lower than any of the 23 other groups we asked about -- lower than both Republicans and Democrats. It is even less popular than much maligned groups like 'atheists' and 'Muslims.' Interestingly, one group that approaches it in unpopularity is the Christian Right."

-- From a New York Times story called "Crashing the Tea Party"

Don't even bother trying to figure out why the current crop of GOP leaders and hopefuls all seem to be slavishly groveling before an entity -- two if you count the Christian Right -- that's even less popular in this country than self-described atheists. It'll just make your brain hurt.

Teabaggers are less popular than self-identified atheists?! I'm becoming popular! I'm becoming popular! OMG! Maybe I can have a party for all my new friends... maybe I can have a sleepover! Hooray! Yes! I'm going to spend my whole lunch hour checking Facebook every five minutes to see who wants to friend me! (Maybe it'll be a school board candidate or even a state senator!)

Everything is coming up Milhouse!

At last! A group more hated than atheists. Still couldn't get one of us elected, though.

I'm a vegan AND an atheist. I will always be most hated. Nice try, Baggers. Better luck next time.

I wouldn't be throwing that party just yet, Eric.

You neglected to factor in the fact that you're also a lawyer. :)

Nice, except that very same NYTimes also had an article in which it wrote that actual voters out there, REGARDLESS of party affiliation ,are in agreement with the Tea Party when it comes to not compromising.

And I find it very interesting for someone who claims to be a virulently far left Democrat that Chez hasn't criticized or shown any unhappiness over Obama's being a pussy and folding like a cheap tea chest EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME ON EVERY FUCKING ISSUE to the Tea Party/Republicans/Conservatives.

I mean, he actually paid attention to that shithole Trump? Really? When this country is in the worst economic mess EVER, instead of focusing his time and energy on that, Obama spends precious time refuting something everyone knew was a bullshit lie from the get go. Really??!!

Fuck that. This bullshit absolute spinlessness and yes, cowardliness is appalling and makes me ashamed to be a Democrat and a liberal. FDR was a cripple in a wheelchair and he would never have acted like Obama has.

Ah, yes. More hilarious, CAPITALIZED indignation from the mouth of the always courageous "anonymous."

First of all, I hope you're not tagging me with the "virulently far left Democrat" label, because I'm actually none of the above. I tend to call it like I see it; occasionally it's a conservative viewpoint, these days because conservatives all seem to be crazy it's more often than not centrist or left-leaning. Regardless, I'm not a Democrat.

As for Obama, I actually have had issues with him caving when I felt like he didn't have to. Trump isn't a good example, though, because it shut his moronic pie-hole up awfully quickly, didn't it?

Oh, and you're pretty much full of crap when you say that most voters loathe compromise -- but by all means keep shouting that real loud, kid.

@kanye: But... but... but I already bought loot bags and Smarties to give away to all the guests and I set up Twister and put up streamers and everything....

What am I going to do with a punch bowl full of Tang?!

With as little regard as I gave the tea baggers when they first started to rear their ugly heads, I never once would have imagined that they would hold so much influence.

Now, I genuinely feel like the Republican party has tea bagged the country.

What thrills me is that there apparently is someone at the NY Times who DOESN'T suck up to the radical right.

@Eric
Drink that shit! Mix it with some Mad Dog 20/20. Wake up the next day in a barn in Topeka, Kansas with some Smarties in your nose wondering what the fuck you did last night. Go to Denny's. No, fuck that. Your heading west at that point, right? In'n'Out, bitch. You still have pants on, right? Then you fail, but you can pay for it. If not, fuck'em! What the fuck where they thinking giving food to a man with no pants? Dash, hitch a ride home with a hippie in a Winnebago. Post it all on Facebook. That's what you do with Tang. Wisdom.

In a better world, you would be recognized for the genius that you are.
