Pop Will Eat Itself remain one of the most interesting, influential and just plain hard-to-pin-down bands to come out of England in the last quarter century. A mixture of punk, electronic, psychedelic, industrial and hip-hop and one of the forerunners of the full-on sampling movement, the Poppies made music that was kaleidoscopically insane but always thoroughly exhilarating. They reunited a couple of years ago, minus former frontman Clint Mansell -- who went on to become a pretty famous composer of movie soundtracks, having written, among other things, the now ubiquitous suite from Requiem for a Dream -- but here's one from their heyday.
