Assistant Quote of the Day

"I’ve known Rev. Sharpton for over a decade and have tremendous respect for him. He has always been one of our most thoughtful and entertaining guests. I’m thrilled that he’s now reached a point in his career where he’s able to devote himself to hosting a nightly show. ‘PoliticsNation’ is going to be an incredibly strong kick-off to our evening schedule."

-- MSNBC President Phil Griffin, officially giving the unfathomably awful Al Sharpton his own show on the network

And you thought a 5.9 earthquake along the Eastern Seaboard was the only disaster to happen today that you never thought you'd see.

Rev. Sharpton's reaction to the death of Nick Ashford yesterday was par for the course.

"I just spoke with Valerie Simpson to console her about the death of her husband Nick, today. I am totally in shock, they are great artists"

That's right. His initial reaction to Ashford's death was to point out how he was on hand to offer comfort to the grieving widow. Because nothing important ever happens if Reverend Al's not involved.

I just... I can't.

Skelton already got me all worked up. I can't with the Sharpton. Not today.

And now Fox is going to look intelligent.

Probably the whole idea behind it.

Please tell me they will continue to pair him with Pat Buchanan so they can have regular segments like "Pin the Tail on the Jew" and "Your Boy Obama".

Sharpton must have pictures of Phil Griffin tied up with a ball gag in his mouth and a horse tail butt plug. This decision makes no sense otherwise. There are so many other more polished candidates currently guest hosting at MSNBC - Melissa Harris Perry, Ron Reagan, Ezra Klein. They gave Chris Hayes a weekend spot, why not give him the 6 p.m.?

Or perhaps the goal is to make Ed Schultz look less annoying.

Without a doubt the reaction of the day.......

It's stuff like this that keep me coming back to this site. You are brilliant!

I have very thick skin, but why did you have to compare me to Sharpton? It doesn't ruin my day, but...c'mon..

We were getting along great too.
