Quote of the Day

"I think it's unlikely that Mrs. Weiner doesn't give a shit, for the record, but there are wives out there who don't give a shit about their husband's online activities—as well as wives who engage in online sexting, texting, flirting, and Tweeting themselves. And one day a sex scandal is going to break and instead of playing the stoic victim, a la Mrs. Vitter and Mrs. Spitzer and Mrs. Clinton, the wife is going to join her 'disgraced' husband at the press conference and they're going to announce that they have an open relationship. And Megan's head will explode."

-- Columnist Dan Savage, lambasting Megan McArdle and pundits like her who deign to speak for and express convenient solidarity with Anthony Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin

Aren't these pundits the same ones who have been floating the theories that Ms. Abedin is Hillary Clinton's long-time lover, that the marriage to Weiner was for convenience and that the congressman was a beard, and that due to Ms. Abedin's relationship with the Saudi royal family that she is clearly a terrorist?

Not kidding, try Treason-In-Defense-Of-Slavery Yankee, Ace Of Spades, even little miss Megan Galt herself.

Am I wrong, or are we measurably devolving as a country and/or species?

I love this quote. I have no idea why pundits--or the general citizenry, for that matter--love to jump in and express how one partner in a marriage feels or is owed by the other when neither of the actual married people have commented. It's like people commenting on the Clintons' marriage and claiming it's some kind of political sham: sure, could be, or it could be Bill and Hillary have some kind of understanding and it's even possible they love each other; maybe, maybe not, but who the fuck outside of their household knows and why does it matter?

Like Savage says, some day the "wronged woman" (or man) is going to be at the press conference. And they're going to say, "The only thing I'm mad about is that my idiot spouse doesn't know how to send a direct message on Twitter."

I have no idea who this Megan is and whether or not it would be nice to watch her head explode....but Dan is dreaming. No woman is going to react to public humiliation that way. None. Even if they are ok with an open relationship (and very, very few are) no woman is going to be okay with the humiliation.

I cut Dan some slack for not knowing women that well as he is a homosexual's homosexual....but nonetheless he shouldn't allow his dreams to exceed his intellect.

And now they're trying to drag this thing out over the weekend. It's creeptastic, but in the scheme of the shitstorm this country is currently swept up in, it's obviously a bullshit easy story for the media to salivate after instead of following the stuff that's actually destroying lives.

I'm having a film festival of "A Face in the Crowd," "Network," and "Idiocracy" this weekend to try and figure out which parts they predicted haven't come true yet.

Every once in a while another blog I peruse will reference some stupid thing McArdle has written. I will then dutifully go to The Atlantics web site and read the digital baboon poop she throws against the wall and shake my head at her cluelessness all the while questioning the fools who provide her with a weekly pay check.

I just do not see how she provides anything of value. One would think The Atlantic would eventually come to their senses but no, she continues to post Randian bullshit and shitty cake recipes week after week.
