Quote of the Day

"We want to prevent it from ever happening in Texas."

-- Republican State Rep. Leo Berman of Texas, who's sponsoring a bill that would make it illegal for his state's courts to implement or consider Sharia law

Yeah, I know. I figured he was talking about a mean IQ above 78 too.

I don't mind him outlawing Sharia, but don't let me hear he's messing with Goa'uld customs.

Anti-alien bigot!

Wonder if he knows that the evil Sharia law is based on the Ten Commandments.

I think people would be surprised how close the origins of Islam, Christianity and Judaism are if they actually studied them. It's been more than a decade since I did, but as I recall it's essentially the same base with different prophets and in the case of Christianity a messiah. Obviously the cultures developed differently in geographic regions, but it's basically potato po-ta-to with the origins. It makes all the 'religion X is evil, religion Y is the truth' business rather amusing.

(Should be taken with a grain of salt since it's coming from an atheist who learned most of what they know about Christianity from VeggieTales. For example, did you know that God is bigger than the boogeyman?)
