Listening Post

South Africa's Seether have always been one step above your average post-grunge act. Breakdown was one of my favorite straightforward rock songs of the past couple of years and the band's cover of Wham's Careless Whisper, while not exactly fantastic, took serious guts.

Well, they're back with a new album -- and the first single from it is kind of brilliantly meta.

Here's Country Song.

As an annoying music nerd and guitarist, it's been bugging me for weeks that this is called "Country song."

The main riff is really more of a blues line. You could call it country blues I suppose but it's not fuckin' honky tonk.

Yes I need a life.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

Well, whichever bright spark uploaded that video doesn't think people in South Africa will want to see it.
