No Escape

There's been a lot of incredible video coming out of Japan in the wake of the devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear near-meltdown. But if you haven't seen this yet, you really have no appreciation for just how positively terrifying it must've been being in the direct path of that oncoming wall of water.

Fucking hell.
Fucking HELL.

Honestly, with all the natural disasters recently, I'm beginning to think the Witnesses could be right about the End Times. Ok, not really, but I bet they're making converts like crazy...

New drinking game:

Take a shot every time you spot a white minivan floating down the street.

I lived in Japan for two years, so I've been watching the developments closely. I had not seen this footage yet. That was "shit-your-pants" terrifying.

But seriously, HOLY SHIT.

I'm with Liz: "Shit-your-pants" terrifying.

I've grown up in 'earthquake country' my whole likfe and have never once given tsunamis a thought. Now I'm constantly looking around for higher ground.

What strikes me most in this video is that it seems so benign when it starts. Sure, there's water flowing, but it's not like the movies: huge wave that devistates, but a flow of water that is an unending force. When it started pushing around large buildings is when I crapped my pants a little.

^ thats exactly what I was thinking. "Oh its not so bad." Then it just kept rising and rising. "Shit this guy with the camera has balls." And it keeps going and going. "Oh my god an entire building is moving." It's this slow terror building thing, that you could see it possibly lulling people in, then suddenly there's so much water they don't have a chance.

Chez- the link you originally posted last night isn't up anymore. That was by far the most insane video I've seen to date. If anyone knows where to see that particular video - please post it again.

Thanks.

This may be the same video: http://www.geek.com/articles/news/japanese-tsunami-captured-devastating-prefecture-in-just-6-minutes-20110315/

But since I didn't see the original link I don't know for sure.
