Gwaring Rogue

This could very well be the greatest thing ever.

And no, before anyone starts accusing me of hypocrisy when it comes to my constant drumbeat against irresponsible and dangerous rhetoric, of course I don't want to see the real Sarah Palin disemboweled and cut in half and neither should anyone else (not to mention the fact that Gwar has done this sort of thing with effigies of dozens of politicians and celebrities by this point).

But between this and Joe Scarborough's figurative evisceration of her in today's Politico, her little fingers are going to be worn out from Tweeting and Facebooking phony outrage so hard tonight.

So the difference between you and Beck is that he wants crazy people to go shoot up the Tides foundation?

Rather than doing the logical gymnastics to explain why this is different from Beck, you should just join me in the belief that nobody is responsible for the actions of a crazy person who misinterprets what a media figure is saying.

That way, there is no hypocrisy in enjoying a good disemboweling in effigy.

Steven, come on. You're smarter than that. It is different than what Beck does, and it's ludicrous to draw a direct parallel just so you can say, "See, if you accept that nothing is dangerous or irresponsible, then you're always on safe ground." Heading a silly but entirely expected argument off that the pass isn't necessarily "logical gymnastics." Gwar -- Gwar for God's sake -- pretending to hack up celebrities and politicians in the name of the absurdities or their act is infinitely different than Glenn Beck going on the air and preaching as news, ad nauseam day in and day out, that there are people in America who are undermining the country and who are threatening to take away your freedoms and they must be stopped by any means necessary.

Oh my God. This just solidifies how much more I love GWAR.

The comparison is not between Gwar and Beck (although they both seem pretty absurd to me,) the comparison is between you and Beck as media figures.

Obviously, you don't want some nut case to try to please you by going and disemboweling Palin. And I think we would agree that Beck doesn't a guy to shoot up the Tides foundation.

I don't know...maybe I need to watch more Glenn Beck (and by more I pretty much mean any other than youtube clips from media matters.) There is obviously something you're seeing that I'm not.

As disembowelings go, that one seemed pretty polite.

GWAR ended up with half a Governor on stage--which, coincidentally, is what it turned out Alaskans got when they elected her.

That article by Joe Scarborough was spot on.

If you didn't get wet from fake blood spewing from a disemboweling at a GWAR show, you didn't really go.

oh, GWAR, I love you

Alas, unlike her foulmouthed daughters, she's not doing her tweeting and facebooking herself, so no dammage to her fingers is to be expected.

Of course, poor Rebecca Mansour's thingers could end up in blood. But that's what being a Palin fanatic is about, right ?
