Quote of the Day

"In spite of all the ridicule about being a black woman who is part of the Tea Party Movement, I will continue to fight to keep America great!!"

-- Sakina Mengle, a black woman from Maryland whose picture and bio are featured prominently on a new website called Diverse Tea (get it?) which is aimed at disproving the accusation that there's a racist undercurrent to the Tea Party

You know, I can't wait for Sakina's first official Tea Party photo op -- when she walks out onto a stage at one of the group's rallies and half the crowd instinctively begins bidding on her.

I kept wondering what was so clever about the name, until I realized that you have to intentionally mispronounce it.

That's about as profound as "Shockin' Y'all."

That last line melted my cold, humorless heart. Zing is right.

Diverse Tea?

Bastards! That's horning in awfully close on my wife's monthly column "Diverse City" in the Portland Phoenix weekly paper (shameless plug for the missus, but still, it's true)

If only I had a lawyer on retainer I could file a frivolous lawsuit.
