Pledge from America
We're coming off a pretty good week around here: a couple of big pieces that got a hell of a lot of circulation, plus quite a few relatively entertaining tidbits, the usual assortment of decent music and a week full of quotes that make you wonder if you accidentally ingested Felix the Cat acid or if things really are that crazy out there.
So, with that in mind -- and with a nod to the fact that it really is starting to feel like fall is in the air -- now's as good a time as any to troll for cash. Yes, we're once again at the point where I remind all you nice people that the oodles of dumb-ass entertainment you get from Deus Ex Malcontent is 100% free, so therefore I can't really feel bad about asking you, if you're willing and able, to drop a couple of coins into the virtual hat I'm putting out onto the digital sidewalk. As I've mentioned before, I acknowledge that my output here at DXM has had to be curtailed slightly, since I need to actually bring in paychecks if I want to do things like eat and sleep under a roof not made of cardboard. But with that in mind, I can't stress enough how keeping my little experiment here afloat requires more effort than ever on my part. A lot of what you read last week was written in the wee small hours of the morning, as Sinatra would say, which is the time that normal people are asleep dreaming of something other than their estranged wife and absent child.
Although I used to be able to devote more time to this site, the time I devote now is infinitely more taxing, which in some ways makes what I do here even more valuable to me because writing now often involves a hefty sacrifice. In other words, now more than ever, this is a major labor of love for your humble narrator.
So if you like what you find here, and feel like I should get a reward for the stuff I regularly crank out -- besides just your readership of course, which is always appreciated -- there are two ways you can support the site. If you can afford it, please drop a little cash into the Paypal tip cup over in the right-hand sidebar, or buy a copy of my book Dead Star Twilight -- which you can purchase electronically and have downloaded immediately to your computer by clicking here.
As I said the last time I did this, I'm really not as prolific as I used to be -- I'm trying to get things back to "normal" but it's an uphill battle and a zero-sum game when paying jobs are in the picture -- so if you don't feel like donating, I'm not going to be so audacious as to press the issue. This is a Fall Pledge Drive in only the most perfunctory sense; it'll last a couple of days and then be gone. But if you want to help fund this nonsense, just know that it'll be very much appreciated by yours truly.
As always, thanks for reading, regardless.
