Listening Post

Sorry, kiddies, but you're gonna have to get used to my fanboy excitement building right up until November 22nd -- excitement which I'll, of course, be passing along to you, whether you like it or not.

Here it is, the full version of the first single from My Chemical Romance's new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys -- and it's more of a fucking full-throttle blast than I even imagined it could be. This is Na Na Na.

Should I point out the obvious irony - that you even as you sneer with contempt at emo-sodden teenagers, you're praising to the heavens their house band?

The last time I checked I don't typically pick on emo kids -- in fact I once wrote a piece that was sort of a defense of them. I hate mindless, Disney tween culture.

Perhaps I'm confusing you with another blogger. If so, my mistake and I apologize. (Can you link me to this sort-of-defense? I'm curious.)

this is all you, kiddo. Because when I hear this I want to seriously dive bomb off my fire escape. This is an assault on the senses.

I'm old an I love 'em too, can't detect why exactly, but I do.

Okay, I LOVE MCR (and my 12 year old son couldn't care less about them)... the song is not the rave-up you advertised, but still pretty bad-ass. The Brian May influence is there (the main reason i love MCR) but in smaller (and, i'm sure) more palatable doses vis-a-vis mainstream audiences. Still, great song. I only wish that the "nah n-n-nah" vox on the chorus were dry un-fx'd vocals from the band instead of the overproduces shlock that they are in this final product. eh, my two cents. cheers, fucker! never eat spinach with a stranger!
