Listening Post

An absolute classic -- and one of those songs I never get tired of hearing.

From the legendary Massey Hall show in Toronto, circa 1971, here's Neil Young's acoustic version of Old Man.

One of my favourite versions of my favourite songs. A perfect way to start the day. Thanks.

Simple. Short. Just long enough.

For, I guess it's been a few years now, I've associated "Heart of Gold" with you, Chez.

I'll bet I'm not the only one here that does that.

I guess that deserves a thanks. Strangest thing, though -- I thought I'd found one.

As much as we can enjoy the music, lets not pull punches, the man looks like a Neanderthal here, esp when he's rocking the long chops. Unfrozen after 10,000 years, he's come to sing us folk songs.

I saw him sing this at Farm Aid many years ago...just him and the guitar for an entire set. My first and only front row experience...couldn't have been better.

You ever been to Massey Hall, Chez?
It's a sweet venue.

I love this song for many reasons, not least of which is it seems ageless. Look up a video of Neil playing it recently, funky old man, long gray hair playing the same song, takes on a whole new meaning.
