"The Muslims are sticking their thumbs in our eye." Even if that was a correct assumption - which I don't believe it is for a second - why can't any of those people say that if that were the case it is their right to do so under the freedoms provided to us as citizens of this country.
Here is a little known fact that will come as a shocker to most Conservatives - there Muslims living in this country that are also citizens, and as such they have rights too, even the right of freedom of religion.
The fact that people think this way is very disturbing and showing that this country is heading in a very dangerous direction.
I haven't seen so many fanny packs since the last time I was at Disney World!
I have to say, there was one point I hadn't thought of before, the health status of people who sneak over the border as opposed to legal immigrants who presumably still have health checks. Working at a hospital, I have to have a TB test annually. That's our birthday present from work. So that is one salient point that hadn't ever occurred to me before.
And, of course, the fact that you can't pray at the Lincoln Memorial (it was on the news, apparently?) was news to me.
I'm not sure what issue I would be passionate enough to come out to a huge crowd on an August day in DC, including travel, meals, hotel...although I do want to go to Comic Con someday, so that shows where my head is at! I don't think many agnostics such as I were present!
Fantastic. Ignorance is not a pleasant thing to see. I don't know how Chase does it. What's his outlet when he gets out of sight/earshot? Personally, I'd have to hit some shit with a baseball bat.
Still, so glad I watched to the end. Ben Franklin on his cell phone was priceless.
I always find it funny that when you ask these people a direct question like, "how has Obama acted in a racist fashion," no one can ever answer the question directly. You get a whole bunch of obfuscation and logical fallacies, but no real answers.
These people are fucking tools, ever ready to march and vote against their own interests. "Take back our country" indeed, right back to the last time the President was white. Idiots all.
Was it P.J. O'Rourke who called fanny-packs "phylacteries for the worship of adipose tissue?"
Praying wasn't prohibited. What apparently was stopped by a National Parks Service Officer was a group of kids IIRC singing the National Anthem. It was impromptu, yet he said they needed a permit. Some stupid thing like that. I'm sure someone blamed Obama for it.
When asked they tell the rubes they are journalist students from Wright State University. Tucker Carlson says that is an unfair Trojan Horse 'cause the rubes think they are from Rightstate.com. What does it take for a seemingly smart guy like Carlson to try to deflect the hateful gibberish of these poorly informed masses?
One cannot ignore that there are a lot of pissed off people in this country - it doesn't matter that what they are pissed off about is illogical or makes no sense. Unfortunately, they all vote so get ready for November - DC will look very different in 2011. Obama will have a very difficult if not impossible time trying win another term. It is a shame because Pres. Obama is a bright individual and certainly better than the alternative we were given (I say this as a lifelong diehard Republican).
Did...did that guy really compare himself to the INDIANS?!?!!!
No wait...I cannot believe this...this jackass honestly said he knows how the Indians felt when the white man came.
No, you fucking moron, you don't. Now, when those illegal immigrants kill you and take all your stuff, you might have an inkling of how it felt. Now, not so much.
And the "live like kings" guy: So these immigrants work hard during the summer, save up their money, then GO BACK HOME to enjoy it? That is an outrage!
I can feel my neurons dying after attempting to reconcile their logic.
Seen on the Metro after the teabagger rally the other day: Tubby, sweaty man with a (yes!) fanny pack, wearing a tee shirt showing a Native American and the slogan, "Think the 10th Amendment protects your rights? Ask this guy."
Now, there was no way I was going to ask *this* particular boob about anything, let alone what he seemed to think was a clear connection between powers not granted to the federal government being reserved to the states and U.S. history vis-a-vis Indians. But I was reminded that the appropriation of the injustices borne by others is stock-in-trade for these guys.
It's the white man's burden, and white men are only too happy to do that heavy lifting. You know, after they're done with their Wendy's Triple.
Imagine that, a dispassionate and neutral interviewer. In the good ol' U. S. of A., these days!
Very impressive.
P.s.: there's a lot to be said about limited education -- the slow of thinking --, but also about limited news sources. P.p.s. About the "Muslims sticking it to us", man, has the "what, do you think you're SMARTER than us" accusation EVER been around for a long time! Where are we, in the Ozarks? And it's often a prelude to a pounding...

"As a blogger, Chez Pazienza is filled with outrage, passion and insight -- delivered with a distinctive point of view, a wicked sense of humor, and a two-fisted style of prose. In Dead Star Twilight, he turns all these on himself -- and produces a fierce, funny, disturbing, but ultimately uplifting memoir. This is the book A Million Little Pieces dreamed of being."

NOTEWORTHY THINGS SAID ABOUT ME & THIS SITE BY PEOPLE WHO'VE ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING IN LIFE
"Interesting, unique... generally unassailable points."
-- Chuck Klosterman, best-selling author of Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs and Eating the Dinosaur
"That mad bent towards suicidal honesty that all my favorite people share."
-- David Baerwald, Golden Globe-nominated singer-songwriter
"Cuts through media bullshit like a hot knife through bullshit."
-- Drew Curtis, founder of Fark.com
"Pazienza could be accused of many things... but he could never be faulted for dumbing us down. His glued-shut prose and bawdy metaphors provide a deeply appreciated, and hilarious, literary diversion."
-- Gelf Magazine, "Insolence Is Bliss," June, 2008
"Snarly, not snarky."
-- Andrew Breitbart
"A delusionally subjective, condescending blog, filled with hostile generalizations and a million exaggerations."
-- Paul Krassner, 60s counter-culture icon
"You're the Antichrist."
-- Mary Elizabeth Williams, Salon.com
"It is truly sad that someone like Mr. Pazienza has a public forum to express his views. In a more civilized time he would, at best, be confined to an institution for the criminally insane or, at the very least, marginalized from civilized society."

There you have it.

Interesting example of hive mind. It's almost like these people sit around and wait for each new political Messiah to tell them how and what to think.

This isn't really all that surprising. I mean this rally was a call to arms for these types.
I had to stop watching halfway through, my yells of, "MY GODS YOU ARE STUPID!" scared my dog.
It's always in the back of my mind that people like this exist, but it really leaves me speechless when I hear them.
You're right Chez, this Whiteside's a treasure.
