I first (and then often) heard this song in the kitchen of a bar I worked at. The cooks - Al and Dave - two heavily-tattooed guys in their 20s (like me) would be singing along, these forlorn looks on their faces (both were good looking with girlfriends). But we all wanted to be somewhere else and wanted something more. It was just a really beautiful, carefree time tinged with a longing to break out and live the dream. But dropping in to join in on the chorus was good enough for me at the time.
