Listening Post

These guys already scored one of the best covers ever with their absolutely mind-blowing version of Running Up That Hill; this rendition of another 80s classic is a bit more by-the-numbers, but the original stands as one of my all-time favorite songs, so it's worth popping up.

Here's Placebo, doing Nik Kershaw's Wouldn't It Be Good?

One of my favorite memories involves Placebo: screaming down the highway into Philadelphia at 3am and 90 mph, with "Special K" blasting and two friends channeling their inner Molko.

Those were the days. Glad someone appreciates this band as much as I do.

PS - Gwyneth Paltrow on the keyboards much?

It certainly didn't make me forget the original, although it's nice to hear it played with some growl. I do like it when you dust off an obscure gem, even as it serves to reinforce what an emo kid you must have been.

Probably one of my favorite songs ever. I taped it off FM radio on my Hitachi boombox and played it over and over...
