I am honestly confused by the far-right worshiping Regan as a pseudo-deity. (Besides y'know, "No other Gods before me" thing.)He was just like any other president; made some good policies, made some bad policies, but he wasn't this shining beacon they're making him out to be.
I want to round up some cash and commission a life-sized statue of Reagan, cast in gold, with a massive twelve-inch erection protruding from his fly. I would then send the statue to Sean Hannity, so that every day when he fellates the memory of St. Ronnie, he could have that literal dimension added to the experience.
@ Anon...Dems have FDR and Kennedy to point back to as icons...GOP needed someone, too, and he has the value of being more contemporary and having been perceived to have personally duked it out with that Evil Empire the Soviet Union.Plus, he had that grandfatherly thing going, so he can be seen through the GOP filter as both a badass and a nice guy.
At this point, the Republican/TEA-Bagger disaster/horror/comedy-show/joke is pretty much on the equivalent level of Beavis & Butthead, for a lot of aspects, including intellectual.
I do miss Beavis and Butthead. D:
