Funny Boned

You've definitely gotta give ex-CNN Pentagon correspondent Jamie McIntyre credit: If he's trying to start a new career as an insult comic, he's showing some chops.

McIntyre's taking part in the annual Commedia del Media charity event at the National Press Club, which aims to find "DC's Funniest Journalist" -- and in his bio, he describes his departure from CNN in 2008 as part of a "network-wide quality reduction initiative."

For those who don't remember, McIntyre was laid off during a mass purge of talent at CNN that also included longtime workhorses Kathleen Koch, Kelli Arena and Miles O'Brien.

A recession is when you lose your job, and sit around watching the news.

A depression is when you lose your job, and sit around watching the news about your favorite on-air news personalities who lost their jobs.
