Quote of the Day

"What we do know is that when leaders on either side of the aisle go with this over-inflated rhetoric and they tell us it's the end of the world, it's Armageddon, the Marxists have taken over Washington, it's the end of the world as we know it, we're moving into socialism -- when they say things like that, that maybe some of them don't believe, and then the fringes believe it, and then they go out and do stupid things, well, I mean, it's all kind of tied together isn't it?"

-- Shepard Smith, ever the lone voice of reason at Fox News

What I love is that Shep tipped his hand to the reality that it's not both sides of the aisle screaming about Armageddon, Marxism and socialism.

Greetings, all you FOXfans out there! It's you old pal CNNfan. Well, how about that? Since Shep was cool enough to blog his photo here with our fearless leader, Shep gets to be defended.

Shep in part said, "leaders on either side of the aisle"

Chez in part said, "What I love is that Shep tipped his hand to the reality that it's not both sides of the aisle ..."

Chez,
Can you let me know if I got the Copy Editor Trainee position I applied for?   Boss! Can I call you that yet?
I really need to know in both cases, either to celebrate my new job or to improve myself on future interviews.

The definition of either is so commonly defined as both, that as a courtesy to you, I won't even bother with a reference link for this one. Surely, there must be something else you love about Shep?

Methinks you might be taking a 129 word blog post a bit too seriously CNNFan.

Wish I could buy this man a drink. He has principles, and sticks by them. Good on Shep.

And CNNFan didn't get the whole italics/tip his hand code.

CNNfan - darling, baby, sweetheart,

Given the rhetoric readily displayed at [Wil E.] Fox News, here Shep essentially is the voice of reason given the discourse...friend of Chez or not.

Could you not agree, at least, (without dissecting semantics) that this is true?
Btw - I would suggest remaining centrist at Fox is akin to being a Liberal in their eyes.

Either does NOT equal both.

e.g. Father: "You may marry either of my daughters but not both of them."

A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. The bird in the hand is either of the birds. Two in the bush is both of the birds.

What dictionary are you using CNNfan?

I kind of want to marry Shep Smith a little bit.

I feel Smith is fighting the good fight, pushing the Fox boundary as far as he can. The mostly retired Billmon has an interesting post up at commie central - "Spock with a Beard" at http://billmon.dailykos.com/. He discusses how Rove adopted commie socialist messageing techniques of the 30's and uses today. A technique described as mirroring is to attack you opponents by telling the media they are doing it too, only worse. He details Cantor's phrasing of how it's the Democrats "who are using "threats" as "weapons," "ratcheting up the rhetoric" to "dangerous levels," and "fanning the flames" of violence." And it works - the media stops focusing on the rage we have been watching, and starts in on the he said she said narrative.

So the left side of the aisle has been calling the President a Marxist and supporting tea-bagger rallies with folks screaming "the sky is falling, socialism is coming" as well, CNNfan?

Hmmm. Somehow I missed that. Must be the liberal media keeping it from us.

Thank you all for the valuable criticism. I can definitely use it, to better impress my future boss. Please keep it coming.

Everyone makes mistakes. Even a professional writer like Chez who (not including markup) has written a total of 11,830 words (2938 discrete words) for the front page of this blog as of: Friday, March 26th, 2010 7:16:15 pm

Even proofreaders and authors of Computer Science, published in a couple of books at Barnes & Noble, Amazon and worldwide in multiple languages...
Make mistakes, for example:

Thanks 60ft6in. I respect your opinion. However, both is a synonym of either. There must be a reason? Since this is a casual conversation, we can resist using citations.

Woo Hoo!!! I think I just lost my train of thought. Alanna just said, "CNNfan - darling, baby, sweetheart".
Yay!!! Please excuse me while I go have myself a fantastic weekend!

Shep Smith is the lone voice of integrity at a channel with no morality or conscience.

Shep, if you're reading this, you're doing a great job. I really admire you for having the guts to say what you really think.

And the rhetoric spewing from the mouths of BOTH parties about the impending economic "crisis" leading up the last election didn't exacerbate the situation either?

In no way a defense of the right on this, but you people have very short and very selective memories.

If we donate to your pledge drives will you tell us what Shep tells you when he's drunk?
