"Tough shit."
-- Republican Kentucky Senator and colossal asshole Jim Bunning, who is single-handedly blocking action to extend unemployment and health insurance benefits for more than a million Americans, responding to pleas on the Senate floor that he allow the measure to be pushed through
He went on to cross his arms and say this about the time being "wasted" attempting to resolve the impasse:
"I have missed the Kentucky-South Carolina game that started at 9:00, and it's the only redeeming chance we had to beat South Carolina since they're the only team that has beat Kentucky this year."
Kentucky's current unemployment rate is 10.7% -- which means that the real figure, factoring in people who are severely underemployed or who have simply given up looking for work, is probably more like 17%.
There just aren't words, folks. Actually there are, but they would advocate hitting Bunning repeatedly behind the knees with a rubber hose until he remembered who the fuck he works for, so best I not go there.
Incidentally, Bunning's cruel and disgraceful drama queen act is all for nothing. The bill's going to pass whether he likes it or not.

I sincerely hope he has a stroke and ends up a vegetable.
What if someone went up to Bunning and capped him? Could they say "tough shit"?
Asshole.
You forgot to mention that Bunning's been certifiable BATSHIT INSANE since the 70's. Why he continues to be re-elected is yet another of the many ways Kentucky keeps embarrassing itself on the national level. I love my home state, but sometimes I am so happy I don't have live, work, vote, and pay taxes there anymore.
Sounds like the asshole needs to be punched. By a Buick.
Sometimes a label like "drama queen" isn't easily seen in a place like the Senate floor. A clip or sound byte might be taken out of context, or maybe someone just didn't like how a phrase from a representative came out and sounded, and a call of "drama queen" could be heard.
This guy though...this guy...
He LITERALLY crosses his arms and huffs, scowling, and you can't see it on the clip, but I'd bet money he was stomping his feet too.
"but they would advocate hitting Bunning repeatedly behind the knees with a rubber hose until he remembered who the fuck he works for,"
Shouldn't we hold the pro-health care reform crowd to the same standard? Damn near every poll I see shows the majority of Americans do not want a total destruction of health care, but rather an attempt to fix what is broken.
Who's calling for the "total destruction" of health care?
No offense, but that's kind a ludicrous statement.
he is the worst kind of public servant - Shamefully Stupid and self-serving. I fucking loathe him and have for years.
Fox News says that Obama Socialism is going to destroy health care.
Duh.
Damned liberal bloggers.
You know, I think I've seen something like this before, and if I remember correctly, the answer is to swat him on the ass and send him to his room to think about what he's done.
Bunning's outburst will make a nice commercial for the Dem's as well as the Republican asshat that said yesterday at the health care summit that He wanted to do away with Medicare and Medicade as well as Social Security. The repubs-Always hated the working man, always will
"No offense" - Common Chez, we know you better than that.
: )
haha, this guy's a good dood.
Who is -- Bunning? Come on MPP, you're not that dumb.
Give kudos, though, to Sen. Wyden's response of putting a hold on all other legislative extensions until Bunning releases his hold. A very canny move, considering some Bush-era tax cuts are scheduled to sunset next week...
Chez, did you see this?

This the problem when you assume everyone is equally qualified - you end up putting special needs kids in the captain's chair.
Aaaargh, I am from Kentucky (granted, I'm a Louisville liberal) and this guy consistently makes us look terrible. He's a total loony and I am thrilled he's not running again.
