Listening Post

Watch Simon LeBon emote! See Nick Rhodes going for the David Sylvian-ODing-on-estrogen look and writing lyrics that only sound smart! Hear the icy yet strangely comforting backing vocals of Sting!

It can only be Arcadia.

From 1985, here's The Promise.

I personally would have liked Arcadia to release a second album after So Red The Rose - they would have been a force to be reckoned with!

Still though, they were an incredibly interesting side project.

While trying to sort out whether this was one of the tracks on that album that my favorite guitarist of all time, David Gilmour, noodled around on (I don't think it is, though there's some phrasing there that's reminiscent of Dave), I rediscovered that the keyboards on this one were Herbie Hancock's. The list of backing musicians on So Red The Rose really is just kind of sick with talent (I mean that in a good way).

Rose really was a fun album. I suppose I need to pick up a copy on CD sometime....

You're so cool for posting that. I hadn't seen that video in 20something years.
