Bonus Quote of the Day

"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you will get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal."

When I heard of the earthquake, I knew two things would happen:

1. Someone would claim that the Haitians did something to deserve God's wrath.

2. Someone/Rush would criticize Obama's response to the disaster.

Today has proven me to be Nostradamus. Or, just aware of the crazy world we're in right now.

What ultra-religious RIGHT talking head spilt forth this rubbish today?

It's too thought-out to be Palin...

I guessed right.

Seriously, that would be the dumbest thing said by a christian in the last 1,000 years. And by that I mean, a thousand years ago, that would have been the dumbest thing said by a christian -- and they've been saying really, really dumb things for at least twice that long so far...

Power Ranger Palin?

I wanna get some people together and make a pact with the Devil and have Pat Robertson erased from the face of the Earth, in a painful way if possible.

You know Pat really fact-checked to confirm this story, because he said:

"They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon the third, or whatever."

Needless to say, his history is at about a 4th grade level. The Haitian revolution happened in 1791. No Napoleon was in power then and Napoleon III didn’t take control of France until 1848.

That must be the "or whatever" he was talking about.

FUCK PAT ROBERTSON !!!

Bastage! God I hate hypocritical religious zealout fucks that think they know God. You know what, while I'm at it: fuck you Christian God. Man, organized religion pisses me off.

However, I must admit, I love Bill White.

So, apparently Pat Robertson thinks Haitians could not possibly free themselves. They obviously had help from Satan. I mean, black people, freeing themselves from Colonial oppressors? Definitely Satan. Good Lord, Pat! Racist much?

If a respectable God *did* exist, He'd have struck that shitheel down decades ago.

Still, I assumed the quote was from Sarah Palin.

You know what'd be great? Really? If Pat Robertson stepped into the street tomorrow morning and was hit and killed by a bus. As in splattered all over the pavement like that girl in the first Final Destination movie.

That might prove to me that there's a god and that he's infinitely wise and just.

That guy has soul has been sold more times than a Thai hooker's veejay.

VOTAR said...

There are a lot of Haitian bus drivers in need of some quick cash. Just sayin'...

Also, Bob Dole's Peanut Butter would be a great name for a band.

About five minutes after watching the initial reports of this awful tragedy I turned to my boyfriend and said "how much do you wanna bet some religious fundamentalist freakazoid is going to blame this on the Haitians and connect it to voodoo or somethng?"

Oh, I can see the CBN compound if I stand on my roof. They do have a really nice restaurant there though.

Alas, Pat Robertson will live on, because if God doesn't do anything better than The Image Of His Son Appearing On A Banana Peel, ever, why, that's because he really exists !

You should know better than Tempting your God, Chez : look what happened to poor ole Job ! Now repent.

No. Ol'Pat needs to die slow and painful, hopefully of something that robs him quickly of the power of communication. In fact, I'd settle for that. Yes, leave him alive but unable to speak or write, so the rest of us can speculate on how he might have so offended "God."

What really gets me is that almost anyone on Anon 10:37's list might have said those words, except for Bob Dole (not that uncaring a man) or Dubbya (not paying attention.)

Huh. I thought it was Sarah Palin, too, and am surprised at how many others had the same feeling. That says a lot of NOT GOOD about her.

You can leave it to douche-bags like Robertson and Limbaugh to never miss the opportunity to make total asses of themselves. The worrisome part is that there alarmingly large numbers of people who actually believe their crap.

It is my life's ambition to kick Pat Robertson in the junk as hard as I can and record the sound he makes to use as my cell ringtone.

What makes ol' Pat's comment warped and evil from a historian's point of view is that the Haitian revolution is the only successful slave revolt in the centuries of slavery in the new world. I'm sure Pat didn't know that, but still, singling it out for "being in league with the devil to be independent" makes for some hi-larious subtext. "Black slaves overthrow their white owners? And only there? It could only be THE WORK OF SATAN!"

Oh, Pat. Let us hope you go home and meet Jesus before you meet me, my very large shoes, and my cellphone.

Pat Robertson does not speak for the majority of Christians. I, as a Christian, am totally disgusted with what he said. Here is an excellent take on the matter - http://donmilleris.com/2010/01/13/1513/ .

The deal was already made. And don't you find Robertson to be painful?

Shoulda specified "painful for Robertson, dammit.

Someone needs to remind Patty of Matthew 25:44-46

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. ...46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Or, you know, Luke 13:26-27
13:26
Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
13:27
But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

So yeah. There's a special place in hell for Pat Robertson and his ilk.
