"People are not born homosexual, they become homosexual, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and the dignity of the human body is an insult to God... Transsexuals and homosexuals will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
-- Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan at the Vatican Wednesday
Says the guy dressed like Liberace whose organization helped cover up thousands of cases of priests molesting little boys.

he's old. he'll die soon. jesus in his ballet pumps will SNAP him to hell.
remember: love the christian... hate the christianity
So in this a-hole's mind, being gay is "acting against nature" but suppressing all sexual urges by adhering to a lifelong vow of celibacy isn't?
Deushebag.
just for a slightly different viewpoint have a look at the Murphy report which was released last week. The wanton two faced stance of an organization that prevented hundreds of thousands of people from developing their own identity by refusing to acknowledge the nature of disease or the dignity of the human body truly boggles the mind.
Honestly, read up on the report, then read the quote again.
As individuals rise higher in an organization, their purpose becomes less about serving the members and more about serving the organization. That's why those people got promoted -- they were good for the organization.
However, if these organizations admitted that they were self-serving, they would lose the support of the members. This is why they continue to pretend that they are acting in the best interests of the members, instead of their own best interests.
Religious or not -- I'd be willing to bet they're all like this. It's only a matter of degree, proportional to the amount of power wielded by the organization's officials.
Molesting little boys is ok as long as you're not a gay man molesting little boys. Because then it's just icky.
molestation and homosexuality have nothing in common
Sick sick sick bastards. I don't know why anyone is listening these old perverts any more? Unfortunately, since there is no afterlife, they will never realize how they wasted the one life they had making other people scared and miserable, most of them never experiencing sex and the rest of the things included in normal life. I'd say that, ultimately, the joke is on them. Ditto for the nuns.
I like how education is blame for sexual proclivity. Like perhaps if he studied the cosine curve a bit mroe he wouldn't want to gobble cock.
Fuckin' morons.
This Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan quote appears to be quite specific which raises an interesting question...
For the sake of news and commentary, if a gay person should have straight sex just once, will they then be allowed to go to heaven, according to the Catholic Church?
Does this quote by Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan support an ambiguous sexual identity for bisexuals to enter the kingdom of heaven ?
Disclaimer: No contempt intended towards anyone or anything, especially the Vatican, and any group cited by Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, or otherwise.
The comment made by the cardinal is offensive.
The comment DXM made about the cardinal's comment is offensive. Are you really hurling insults about a person's clothing/uniform in response to his/an organization's stance on sexuality? Really? And molestation has NOTHING to do with homosexuality. Not even men molesting little boys.
Education tends to lead one to think for himself.
You can see why an organization like the Church wouldn't promote that.
Really? I said something offensive?
Well then, my job here is done.
I don't think Chez is the one "making" the link to homosexuality and molestation. The actual priests doing the molesting are the ones making that link. It's not like Chez is saying your gay best friend does that shit. Unless, of course, your gay best friend happens to be a priest who is a molester. Does that make sense?
"Like perhaps if he studied the cosine curve a bit mroe he wouldn't want to gobble cock."
Hee!
Well said, Chez.
Religious hypocrisy, sigh.
silly anonymous 3:07! Liberace is the one who's offended (sitting in heaven next to jesus pointing out the fashion faux pas of the priesthood).
And Em wins the prize.
"People are not born Jewish, they become Jewish, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and the dignity of the human body is an insult to God... Jews will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

@ kanye, "Deushebag."
Most excellent!
Excellent, Anonymous; please allow me:
"People are not born Catholic priests, they become Catholic priests, for different reasons: education issues or because they did not develop their own identity during adolescence. It may not be their fault, but acting against nature and the dignity of the human body is an insult to God... Catholic priests will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
I don't contend that's true of all of them, that's my only reservation.
Oh Catholicism, your ignorance is only matched by your clusterfuckery.
What's really interesting about this quote is that it was actually used to set up the point that, according to the good Cardinal, nothing -- not even their defilement of the laws of the Almighty -- justifies the torture and/or murder of gays. Barragan hoped to make is clear that no one has the right to hurt of kill someone just because he or she is gay.
In other words, there's no need for you to hasten their journey to hell for all eternity -- they'll get there on their own eventually anyway.
Who needs your stupid kingdom of heaven ruled by some lame god who can't even manage to keep the staff in line?
Now, if it was a QUEENDOM, then I'd be on board!
Oh, hey, look everyone! Chez is educating his readership by giving us all a classic example of an abusive ad hominem fallacy!
Good one, Chez! What's next? Straw man? Red herring?
Never let logic stand in your way of making a point.
If it was a Queendom then there would be no issue about gays passing the litmus test for entry.
Norm, seriously, are you off your meds or something? I'm concerned about you.
At one point you used to actually make decent points -- you know, ones that made a lick of sense. Now you're just spouting nonsense that sounds like some kind of Argumentative Mad-Lib.
Now if I really wanted to be a dick, I could say, "Hey, look everyone, the priests at Catholic school apparently touched Norm's pee-pee when he was six."
But that would be low. : )
Yeah, you're right. That would be low -- low class.
Now go write about something else I can skewer you on.
Entertain me!
Doesn't seem like I'm entertaining you so much as you're entertaining yourself -- and not in a "bottle of hand lotion and Kleenex sort of way."
Remember, the little tip jar's over to the right if you're that eager for me to play the role of your dancing monkey.
