Quote of the Week (I Stand Corrected, Not Sure Anything's Gonna Top This)

"I saw the Mayor of New York said today, 'We're tough. We can do it.' Well, Mayor, how are you going to feel when it's your daughter that's kidnapped at school by a terrorist?"

-- Rep. John Shadegg (R-Pee-Pee Pants), ratcheting up the fear and paranoia to literally hysterical levels at the notion of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Gitmo detainees being tried in New York City

I always thought that the Republicans were supposed to be the tough guys, but I swear to Christ, the way they're crying about the sky falling and running to hide under their desks at the prospect of these terrorist assholes being tried in the city they attacked -- you'd think they've been watching too many movies:

By the way...

TERRORIST!

BOO!

(Oh, and one more thing: Bloomberg has two daughters; one's 30 the other is 26, ergo, neither of them is in school, you putz.)

The hilarious part is that traditionally, the GOP are supposed to be the tough guys.

Why are they now such huge, huge pussies?

They're afraid of EVERYthing. They sound like whiny fucking women. (Which is maybe why they like their women - Palin - to pretend to be unflappable Dominatrixes)

I always thought that the Republicans were supposed to be the tough guys...

It's always been this way. In WWII, both John Wayne and Ronald Reagan did everything that they could, used every powerful connection that they had to avoid serving while Jimmy Stewart insisted that he be allowed to fly bombing runs that carried a guaranteed 1/3rd casualty rate.

And yet look who's held up as the shining examples of Rah-Rah American Blood and Guts Uber-Manly Conservative Toughness.

Their blustery assertions of toughness and strength have never been born out by the reality of their actions. The whole "the right is strong on defense" argument vaporizes with the most cursory of historical examinations.

Post WWII, the Democratic Party...the presumptive left...controlled Congress for the better part of four decades. And what did they do with that control? They built the most terrifyingly awesome military machine in the history of mankind. They regularly did and, still do, appropriate more monies annually under the guise of defense than every other nation on this planet...combined.

And yet, somehow it's the right that's strong on defense?

By what sane fucking definition does this represent the reality?

Like everything else that "conservatives" stand for, when you strip it all back and expose the realities, all you're left with is 30 years of repeated talking points and a criminally compliant media.

The Big Lie indeed.
