Listening Post

This is one of my favorite live performances of all time. Still gives me chills watching it.

From 1985, it's Queen at London's Wembley Stadium for Live Aid -- Hammer To Fall.

Kudos Chez,

It's funny I was just thinking about the power of this performance this morning. I was roadtriping that day with my parents and had to listen to the concert on the radio. Queen literally reach through the speakers and slapped me out of a highway line stupor with their set. Couldn't wait to get to a tv an watch the replay.

99% of music today could only wish to be as awesome as Freddie Mercury.

And he never needed ridiculous gimmicks based around his sexuality, LAMBERT.

I had the pleasure of seeing them live three times. Each performance left me gobsmacked. They rocked Live Aid.

At this same concert they also play "Radio Ga Ga" and it is the coolest thing to see all those people clap their hands and raise their arms in synch.

Thank you for posting this. I'm an unabashed Queen fan and in memory of Freddie's passing I put only Queen songs on my blog's playlist. He was simply astonishing, a musical elan vital that fed and fed off of the crowd, and this Live Aid performance shows his and Queen's greatness, called by many rock critics the best live show ever. Amen to that. R.I.P., Freddie.
