I have to say, as far as melancholy Sesame Street songs sung by Jim Henson are concerned, I think Ernie's "I Don't Want To Live On the Moon" takes the cake. This one is a classic, though.

I'm partial to 'Sing After Me' with Grover and Madeline Kahn.
Saw the 40th anniversary episode this morning with my little one...they're really ramping up the 3-D animation. Kinda makes me sad.
