Quote(s) of the Week

"We did this for the show."

-- "Balloon Boy" Falcon Heene during last night's Larry King Live (which he appeared on with his reality TV veteran family just a few hours after the heavily covered balloon chase across Colorado ended) when asked why he didn't come out of the attic upon realizing everyone was looking for him

"If nothing else, we've had a fascinating hour and a half with no commercials, watching a beautiful day in Colorado."

-- Shepard Smith, giving the final assessment of Fox News's extended coverage of the Balloon Boy saga

chez, the great thing about this, is that earlier in the day, when the balloon was still up in the air, sheperd smith was already telling viewers, on air, to go look for the kid "under the bed" (or in the attic as is the case here). he said if it he had "accidentally" released his dad's beloved experiment to the skies, he would've hid under the bed, cause he knew he was going to get it from his dad..... little did he know that little falcon's (really?!) dad put him there.

AH's response to this last night was classic. It kills me that this blew up like the Hindenberg... ha.

On another note, it has been goddamn beautiful here lately. 65 and sunny all weekend.

These people named the kid Falcon – that alone is worthy of criminal charges

There is tape released today showing the Dad releasing the balloon.

Their first phone call was made to the FAA, second call to local TV news and 20 minutes later call 911. Fame whores. I have a feeling that one of them will have their own show on CNN shortly.

The asswipes on CNN Headline News are having some yelling "panel" of jackasses discussing the "brewing scandal" surrounding the balloon boy. The scandal they are brewing themselves, of course. These people ought to be beaten.

I was listening to the story on the radio while driving down the road, and it was gripping; A young boy, supposedly trapped underneath a balloon, thousands of feet in the air, clinging for his life!

When I got home, and saw the TV coverage, I was really, really, disappointed in myself that I fell for this story. But it made great drama without the visual aspect. (I really want to hear the original broadcast of "War of the Worlds" now.)

And the kid puked, twice, on live tv Friday morning. WTF are the parents and/or the tv people thinking? When a kid says "I feel like I'm gonna vomit" it's time to end the interview. Kids are rarely wrong about these things. Just sayin'.
