Listening Post

So it's a really lousy copy -- who cares.

Here's a damn cool live version of one of my favorite Elvis Costello songs. From the Trust album, it's Elvis with Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook -- From a Whisper To a Scream.

Oh, and happy Columbus Day.

Man, that's why I like coming here; you never know what you're going to get. I click a bookmark and a few seconds later I'm 15 years old, jamming with friends in my buddy's basement.

btw--My wife dropped an early birthday present on me: She's taking me to see Mould tonight (b'day's the 23rd...I still can't wrap my head around the fact that I'm turning 44).

I was flitting around youtube this morning and I came across a video of him playing a Sugar song that I'd completely forgotten. It's low-tech but, the sound is decent and it's fairly obvious that whoever shot it has spent time behind a camera. Technical limitations aside, it's a damn-near perfect video. It seems like the kind of thing that you'd dig.

I saw Glenn about 7 years ago at a cafe in Arlington, VA. He played solo acoustic and actually had an audience member come up and sing this song with him. It's one of my favorite concert memories.
