So, no one has read this biography yet? I mean, I would have thought that the appropriate time to respond would be after having the fullest grasp of the story.
This is exactly what is wrong with pandering to the lowest common denominator, no? Throw out some titillating bait and let the mob descend in an orgy of judgment and smartass remarks.
Jesus, this is maybe one of those times when no matter what the reason, it's better just to hold back if you can't summon up the slightest bit of compassion or civility.
I don't plan on reading the biography. I just seems too painful and I don't want to invade her privacy... even though she's handing it out. If it's cathartic for her to write about what happened then good for her.
Shannon, while your desire for civility and prudence is admirable, remember that it was actually Phillips herself who dropped these soundbites to sell books.
I read some of this mess the other day. And I remember her mentioning her father wanting to run away with her to Fiji because "it's not looked down upon there." And the ONLY THING I've been able to think since is: What the fuck is wrong with Fiji?
And also...is it really okay in Fiji or was he just making that up? I have been racking my brain and have yet to come upon a culture totally cool with the dad-daughter having satan's sex thing. Ever.
Near as I can tell from a quick Google search, Fiji does indeed HAVE felony laws against incest.
I, too, am unfamiliar with any cultures, currently or historically speaking, that have ever given the nod to parental-child incest. A few seem to have either tolerated or given very specific exceptions to sibling sex being a crime, but the daddy/mommy-child barrier is fairly universally solid to the best of my knowledge.

"As a blogger, Chez Pazienza is filled with outrage, passion and insight -- delivered with a distinctive point of view, a wicked sense of humor, and a two-fisted style of prose. In Dead Star Twilight, he turns all these on himself -- and produces a fierce, funny, disturbing, but ultimately uplifting memoir. This is the book A Million Little Pieces dreamed of being."

NOTEWORTHY THINGS SAID ABOUT ME & THIS SITE BY PEOPLE WHO'VE ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING IN LIFE
"Interesting, unique... generally unassailable points."
-- Chuck Klosterman, best-selling author of Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs and Eating the Dinosaur
"That mad bent towards suicidal honesty that all my favorite people share."
-- David Baerwald, Golden Globe-nominated singer-songwriter
"Cuts through media bullshit like a hot knife through bullshit."
-- Drew Curtis, founder of Fark.com
"Pazienza could be accused of many things... but he could never be faulted for dumbing us down. His glued-shut prose and bawdy metaphors provide a deeply appreciated, and hilarious, literary diversion."
-- Gelf Magazine, "Insolence Is Bliss," June, 2008
"Snarly, not snarky."
-- Andrew Breitbart
"A delusionally subjective, condescending blog, filled with hostile generalizations and a million exaggerations."
-- Paul Krassner, 60s counter-culture icon
"You're the Antichrist."
-- Mary Elizabeth Williams, Salon.com
"It is truly sad that someone like Mr. Pazienza has a public forum to express his views. In a more civilized time he would, at best, be confined to an institution for the criminally insane or, at the very least, marginalized from civilized society."
-- Huffington Post commenter "Pharmacan," October, 2010

I see what you did there.
Could be worse...she could be a scientologist like Bijou.
Great...now I've got Mommy, Where's Daddy? by The Chili Peppers stuck in my head.
Brings new meaning to "who's your daddy", etc.
I threw up, a lot.
Sick.
And what the hell is going on with her batshit brother? What does that have to do with ANYTHING?

6 people does not an orgy make. A gangbang, certainly.
Civility?
Sir or madam, you must be new to this blog.

Poor thing, the hippie colony, drugs, raped by daddy AND child actor. She never had a chance.
lol, Shannon said "titillating." Hot!
That's assuming any of it is true.
None of these allegations can be proven & since her father is dead, he can't defend himself.
Oprah feeds on these kinds of stories.
True. Chez. But have you ever seen a woman so totally fucking beat?
Books and money and fame can't fix that kind of suffering.
Just sayin'
