Crazy Talk

The gravity of what Shepard Smith, seemingly the lone voice of reason at Fox News, is saying here can't be underestimated.

He's not only confirming the kind of delusional lunacy Fox is stoking these days -- he's putting the crazy in its rightful place.

Kick ass, Shep.

Yes, if only Shep could connect one dot further, that is, Fox is as much to blame as any of the blogs he claims are whipping things up.

Agree. I understand not wanting to bite the hand that feeds you, but it does seem like a glaring oversight not to accept and admit that Fox as an institution bears much of the blame for what these nutjobs believe these days.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall on the prep sessions for his show, or for the man when the cameras aren't on him and his bosses aren't around. My guess is he is just as exasperated with the regime at Fox, and even if his views overall jibe more with theirs than say, MSNBC or CNN or Obama, he still knows that extremism isn't the answer.

Good on him for being a voice of reason on a network without a drop of sanity elsewhere in its schedule.

Yeah, well not everyone can have that "mad bent towards suicidal honesty". I would wonder what the hell is he still doing at Fox, but I know firsthand how hard it is to come by a media job. And you have to drink some kind of koolaid at 99.9999% of places, or pretend to drink it. But still.

Btw chez, any thoughts on miss california being fired by the donald?

I'm in Texas, and I scored a big victory at work last week by getting the news channel in the coffee room changed from Fox to CNN. Shame we can't get PBS, BBC or CBC, but at least it's a start.

Just when will these nut jobs spiral in on themselves, rather than taking poor bystanders with them?

I can respect someone when they are willing to call bullshit on their group/supporters/fans/whatever.

Blind support is beyond words.

THANK GOD someone over there is paying attention and letting us know. Sometimes... i can't even put it into words... I just am so shocked that they can't/won't/refuse to see the lunacy. I won't go as far as to lay blame at their feet for any atrocities - we are free to make our own choices, including turning the channel - but holy hot damn, FOX is choosing to make some unsavory bedfellows in the unbalanced public. Glad someone has the intelligence and balls to be grossed out about it.
