Quote of the Week (Early Contender)

"I'm a happy, single guy. He's a repressed, typical Republican. I'm sure just terribly sexually repressed and it comes out in all their sorts of hatred and vile and bile -- why would I be bitter? First of all, our side won."

-- Bill Maher on Sean Hannity, who recently claimed that the Fox News Channel doesn't like Maher because he's become "bitter"

This man has been bitter his whole life. I'm not sure where to begin.

Mr. Maher insulted the United States Military! For that, he should be sent to a Turkish prison! This man is more dangerous to American freedom than any terrorist coming to our shores. President Bush should have brought Maher up on treason charges when he had the chance.

That so-called movie (thank God it was banned in my area) will put a reservation for Bill Maher in Hell.
Sean should receive an award for fighting for freedom.

Das right. Bill Maher USED to be bitter, at times, in the past eight years.

(Incidentally, wadadaya think of the band name "the Mahers Bahers"? I kid you not. It exists.)

Hate him or love him, Maher is dead-on 99% of the time. I think he's hilarious but still don't really understand how he considers himself a Republican.

Wow call Bill Maher a traitor and someone who Presi Bush should have charged with treason huh? What about Presi Bush himself? Maher's a Comedian who never directed our soldiers to be killed on foreign soil based on false information. He also didn't authorize Torture or Spying on our nation's Citizens (without warrants) which consequently put egg all over our national face AND also dragged our sacred constitution through the darkest mud.

Might I add you too have pushed it aside by suggesting Maher be put in a prison for expressing his opinion (see Amendment #1) because you disagree with his view. This confuses me since you profess your love of guns in your blog (which I'm sure you know is #2) so i know you honor the rights bestowed upon us all (comedian, insurance underwriter, ex-cnn producer, father of two from mississpi who loves his wife and two boys) by that sacred document.

And to say that Maher is more dangerous to our society then actual terrorists is not only utterly ridiculous and obtuse it's also insulting to those who are fighting against the REAL threats against our country (see the FBI who thwarted the plot in New York last week).

I'm not sticking up for Maher in this post but I think your vitriol is misguided on this one.

Maher's such a douche. I can't even tell if he cares about anything anymore other than promoting himself. I certainly can't stand the talking heads at Fox, but he's no easier to stomach.

I'm pretty sure they don't give medals for sitting in a TV studio spewing crap. As for treason, there are two definitions:

1. Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
2. A betrayal of trust or confidence.

I highly doubt that a court would find credible evidence that Maher had acted to aid the USA's enemies. As for betrayal of trust or confidence, it goes without saying the list of names that fit that description of treason.

I will add treason to socialist, fascist, etc as words that the right loves to use but cannot define.

You don't understand. People like Maher give aid and comfort to the enemy and that's the biggest crime and sin of all. By speaking the way he does, he inspires those who want to kill us to plan out massive attacks against us.

You see, Jihadists hate the Western lifestyles. They don't care if you're a Secular Progressive or Conservative. They just hate you for not believing in their brand of religion. I'll repeat this here again: I love the Muslim people who love us and are valuable to us.

You're forgetting that GW Bush, VP Dick Cheney, Condy Rice and Donald Rumsfeld rushed in to protect us on September 11. They remained committed to that vision ever since that day. For that, we have been safe.

When someone like Bill Maher speaks out against those actions that have kept us safe, they need to be penalized. It doesn't matter what his job is -- Bill Maher lives on our soil and he has a responsibility to protect us from those who want to kills us. With that written/said: We as Americans and members of the Western, modernized community have a responsibility to join that crusade!!!! This is why people like Bill Maher need to be read the riot act.

The Anonymous poster before me copied these definitions of Treason and I agree:

1. Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
2. A betrayal of trust or confidence.

By saying that our military is weak and lobs missiles is a violation of allegiance. How dare that Secular Progressive Godless runt say that! We have strong people in the field who fight for our freedoms every day. What in God's name is wrong with someone like that? Please tell me!!!!! And now, one of the other posters wants me to see that Godless trash movie that Maher made where he mocked God-fearing folk? You've got to be kidding me! By producing that piece of garbage movie, Maher violates the trust of this nation which was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

I'm now so upset, I don't know whether to cry or throw my wrench into this old dang computer.

When one speaks out against his country, he needs to answer for that.

God help us on this Memorial Day when the Godless North Koreans are building and testing more nukes.

There's nothing better than a Bill Mahr quote and satire done so right it elicits angry responses. Hoo Rah.

By the way, Bill Mahr is right about 70% of the time, which is good for a tv (even if it's not TV it's HBO) commentator.
