Quote of the Week

"Howard must be delusional if he thinks Vatican officials are going to like his propaganda -- they denied him the right to film on their grounds. Moreover, we know from a Canadian priest who hung out with Howard's crew last summer in Rome -- dressed in civilian clothes -- just how much they hate Catholicism. It's time to stop the lies and come clean."

-- Catholic League sanctimonious spokesturd and go-to guy for news bookers looking for someone sure to say something "controversial" on television William Donohue, appearing like clockwork to denounce Ron Howard's Angels and Demons, thereby elevating the movie's profile even further in the public consciousness

(Incidentally, am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious that a guy who vehemently defends the Catholic Church's nonsensical belief system has the balls to call somebody else "delusional?")

The sad thing is that Brown's book is so much bullshit and bad writing that it doesn't deserve ANYONE to get worked up about it. But this asshole is just giving it more publicity and giving a hack more credibility. Asshole.

Why is it whenever I hear Donohue's name I hear horses whiny? To hear this idiot blather the Church is more persecuted than Christ himself.

When is some alleged journalist going to demand that this asshat either prove he has actual members in his group or sit down and shut up? What's that? The freak show is more important?

No, please! No more free publicity for this movie. The first one was abominable enough

Angels & Demons, The DaVinci Code... ALL of those books are just pale imitations of Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum, which was written MANY years earlier. I HEAVILY recommend that everyone read that book and draw their own conclusion.

It even has a group of Cthulhu cultists chanting to the Great Old Ones in the Vatican!!! Can't get much cooler than that

I always thought that eating Jesus Chips that tasted like ass and drinking Transmogrified grape juice was a sucky way to spend a perfectly good Sunday morning. Talk about delusions. Back when there was still hope for my immortal soul, I put a lot of thought into what the difference was between a cult and a religion. Now I know there isn't one.

Heh, "spokesturd." I'm gonna start using that.

Catholic Mass, I'm guessing? Since most of the Protestant folks I've ever run across realize that's a symbolic, not literal transformation, and I haven't had Jesus chips since leaving the Vatican in my vapor trail. All the Protestant places I've been have the decency to use bread or crackers. Actually, if the Catholic hosts tasted like ass, I'd have been happier with them. I don't know WHAT they make them out of.

And grape juice? I thought only the Protestants were guilty of that. In my day (and I'm not THAT old), the Catholic churches managed actual wine, crappy though it usually was.
