(Surreal) Quote(s) of the Week

"I'm like, these are the people I really want to meet. I'd freak out. They're my rock gods. These are the only people that I would cry over. My manager asked and said, 'Miley's really obsessed.' And they were like, 'We don't really do that... Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm gonna ruin them, I'm going to tell everyone!"

-- Miley Cyrus, as in "Hannah Montana" Miley Cyrus, discussing being snubbed by Radiohead at last month's Grammy Awards and apparently unaware that she stands about as much chance of "ruining" Radiohead as Candice Bushnell would have bringing down Shakespeare

"When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement."

-- Radiohead's official statement in response to Miley Cyrus's comment

(Incidentally, Radiohead also refused to meet with Kanye West at the Grammys, giving Kanye just one more thing to cry about.)

That's great. What's even better is that the quote could have been either kanye or miley. Ones an annoying self absorbed teenaged girl and the one is a twat with a tv show on disney.

Yeah, it's Miley Cyrus and all, but York is still a self-important assclown. You make pop music, douchebag. You ain't curin' cancer.

but York is still a self-important assclown.

A more or less self made self important assclown though. Who probably based the "don't really do that" thing on the realization that that he is not curing cancer and therefore not actually buying into the whole networking, be seen with others who are not curing cancer but are merely entertainers thing.

Thier response is spot on. Just because Mileys life has been made into an artificial media product she should have to more right to meet them than anyone. I'm an artist of moderate success(though I admit not to any comparable level enjoyed by Ms Cyrus), but I don't expect Gerhart Richtor(who I consider to be Radioheads equivelant in terms of artistic endevor), or someone like him to pencil me in just because my agent knows how to reach his, nor would I enjoying much more fame than I do.

Every time I see a picture of the poor girl, I think of Kurt Vonneguts Breakfast of Champions line, "so he turned his daughter into an outboard motor?"

That's just so awesome. I hope they both cried like little girls.

York doesn't have to meet with anyone. My point was that he publicly shit on a 16-year-old girl whose only sins are 1) She makes cheesy pop music and 2) She's a fan of Radiohead. She probably overreacted (A 16-year-old girl overreact? That's unpossible!), but I expect him to be the adult in the situation. Instead he chose to embarrass a child and that makes him a raging asshole.
