Quote of the Week

"You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell’s record? Jesus."

Wow...if a cheeseball like Trent Reznor is calling your music bad? Well, actually, in that case, I probably wouldn't take it too much to heart.

He's right. I thought that new song "Scream" was a Britney Spears song, only from an alternate reality where Britney was a man and talkin' about her bitch. Maybe Chris Cornell and Britney were one in the same all this time?

I'm all for trying new things. I usually give artists and musicians I like a lot of room when it comes to expanding their horizons and pushing the creativity envelope. But I can't fathom who Cornell was hoping to reach with this move. The kids who like Timbaland don't even remember Cornell or Soundgarden, and the Soundgarden fans are sure to feel completely betrayed, as if Cornell were just going for the bucks because, as Weezer says, Timbaland knows the way to reach the top of the charts.

That's a great quote. I've always liked Trent Reznor.

Trent Reznor's one to talk.

But in this case, he's right. What was Cornell thinking?

And Good God, is there anything Timbaland can't ruin? He even managed to fuck up an M.I.A. song.

I'm a relative n00blet in the Reznor/Cornell market, so I'm only going by personal experience here.

Reznor earned a pass in my eyes after Year Zero. I'm a sucker for concept albums.

As for Cornell, the only song I can really say I liked of his was "You Know My Name". The rest of "Carry On" really didn't appeal to me, but maybe I should dip further back and into the Audioslave/Soundgarden days. Either way, I think I'll quietly pass on his latest album, before morbid curiousity gets the better of me. (Just like it ashamedly did with Blackout.)

It's not hard to fuck M.I.A.'s songs up...she's already done it admirably on the first take. (Sorry Sieve, I just kinda get annoyed with her music.)

I guess the point I'm trying to make is Reznor FTW, Cornell FT[tba].

My biggest disappointment from 2008 was that I had to skip on my tickets to see NiN in Las Vegas before Christmas due to some financial belt-tightening.

It still hurts everytime I read something NiN related. :(

I believe this is a situation where the "oh SNAP" flowchart comes into play:
