From the "Rumors are Always True" department:
Eight-foot tall chimpanzee look-alike and occasional Karl Rove dance partner David Gregory has apparently landed the prime gig on the Sunday morning news show circuit: The Huffington Post is reporting that he'll be the new full-time moderator of NBC's Meet the Press.
His people won't confirm it, but Gregory's been the frontrunner to take the reins of the show since Tim Russert's sudden death back in June.
On the positive side, Gregory was one of the first in the White House press corps to decide that he'd had enough of the Bush administration's horseshit and would no longer allow poor Scott McClellan to lie his ass off and get away with it. On the negative side, it took as long as it did for him to get to the point of being fed up enough to do his job.
Also, he's a lightweight of the highest order when compared against his predecessor -- a TV personality as opposed to a rabid-dog newsman.
Oh yeah, and there's the aforementioned Karl Rove thing, which, in less unprincipled times, would've disqualified him immediately.

That Karl Rove video will give me nightmares tonight. Who knew the devil was so goofy?
Ugh. they really should have retired the brand when Russert died. Give it the same time slot, format, whatever... but the "Meet the Press" jersey should have been strung up in the rafters - no one will ever be able to fill that seat.
I ALWAYS thought he looked like a chimp, so I'm glad I'm not the only one.
C'mon. Russert was never more than a servant for GE and a sucker-up to the powerful. Gregory will be worse.
Chez:
Are you aware of who brought Karl Rove as a date to that dinner? None other than Jon Klein. He was sitting next to him.
Birds of a feather.
