Listening Post

I'd love to see the lawsuits, protests, boycotts, outraged cable TV guest appearances, and the general landslide of indignation that would meet Genesis if they tried to release this song and video today.

From a simpler and somewhat smarter time in America, when we didn't insist on getting pissed off about every little thing, here's the wonderfully politically incorrect Illegal Alien.

Yeah. Sometimes the first step to seriously discussing and resolving an issue is taking a little time to make light or poke fun.

Even while the fellas are treating illegal immigration in a flippant manner (and donning some wardrobe cast-offs from an Eastwood spaghetti western), they are singing "it's no fun."

Too bad too many folks don't get that.

I'm assembling my Rundgren/Utopia material now.

I guess my nostalgia kick continues -- although I still think the 90s were a far better era for music.

Wow -- I didn't even know they had a video for Keep it Dark. That's one of my favorites too.

I'll have to pop that and Turn It On Again up at some point.
