The Man Who Wasn't There

This is tragic in every possible way.

And not just because Rick Sanchez says "cooties."

Is it possible that Bush had shaken the hands of these leaders in an earlier meeting and therefore thought it redundant? Also, I don't see Bush extending a hand to be shaken in the first place. It's bad manners and poor protocol all around.

He's walking with his head down most of the time, which to me looks like they've shunned him somehow. Perhaps he didn't want to extend his hand and 'be left hanging' and look like a dumbass. Cooties indeed.

This just looks bad in front of the cameras, and even if he had shaken their hands a few minutes ago, its no excuse.

Imagine Obama in that situation.

what does it mean that it made me feel a little sorry for him? what a pathetic soul. yes indeed: "what goes around, comes around."

Some commenters on youtube claim that Bush had already greeted everyone in advance, so shaking hands again would have been redundant. Maybe so, or maybe that was a clever way to avoid shaking hands with him in front of the camera. In either case, this sequence looks odd.

Well, this proves it once and for all.

Rick Sanchez is pathologically driven to find any excuse, in each and every story he presents, to manufacture an opportunity to say the word THOWWWWWWWWWWWsands.

Yes, Steve, I did imagine Barack in that situation...he would have not only extended his hand out anyway, but it would have been a double-handed embrace/shake. A sign of quiet power.

I don't feel sorry for the "spurning Bush" at all. It's good for him to reap some bitter fruit from the seeds of his own brand of terrorism.

Tragic? Maybe...if you know him personally. Since I don't (and he was my governor for 2 terms), he can go to go to hell.

(Wow. How do I really feel?)

He's like that one drummer (not that there is one) in the USC marching band that is out of time/off the beat and blaming everyone else for being in the wrong time signature.

He just doesn't have any fucking sense.

Yeah, Sure. Get a grip, Rick.

What did you expect? If Barack Obama was there, they'd all be down on their knees, fellating him, one after another?

You wanna read (into) something, read a book.

(What were his most used words while at WSVN? TRAGIC! SHOCKING!) You'd know better than me. I bet you could write volumes about WSVN!

Mm, that did look terribly odd. There must be a logical excuse for it. There was footage on the Daily Show the other night, of him coming out of the same door over and over, to greet people.

Obama would extend the fist, man, the fist bump of peace!

*rolls eyes at self*

Looked more to me like Bush didn't want to have anything to do with anybody on that stage or even want to be there in the first place. I'll bet he has a calendar hanging in his bedroom with big red X's through every date starting about three months ago. And if you turn it to Jan 20 there will be a crayon stick figure drawing of dubya in a big cowboy hat on a ranch under a huge rainbow (colors in the wrong order) going "YIPPEEE!"

What is it with you and Rick Fuckin' Sanchez?

I'm starting to think you're projecting your obsession with Sanchez onto this "Max' character (if there realy IS such a person -- not that I'm insinuating you're EITHER of the following, but it's starting to feel a bit like Clarke Kent and Superman -- both of you write on this site now, but never at the same time).
