I just wanted to take a minute to say a quick "thank you" to everyone who's visited this little experiment of mine over the past week or so.
Since starting Deus Ex Malcontent two-and-a-half years ago, I've never concentrated on one specific topic for an extended period of time; I've always made it a point to be sure that you can never tell from one day to the next what you'll find here. I don't doubt that I'll be back to my usual scattershot hijinks some time in the near future, but I admit that right now I'm as pissed-off as I've ever been and feel like I have to address what's eating me alive -- the ascendency of Sarah Palin and what it could mean for the future of this nation -- in the hope, however small, of changing things for the better.
Bottom line: This is important.
Right now, this upcoming election is more important than anything else I could possibly write about.
Apparently you think so as well, since the daily traffic around here lately has been staggering. You've been reading, commenting and e-mailing in numbers that leave me shocked and very, very humbled. Not only that, but quite a few of you have been donating money via the electronic tip jar and buying my book, Dead Star Twilight. I can't begin to express my gratitude for this kindness. Obviously, this site is free to readers and always will be, but it's true that since being fired by CNN I've given Deus Ex Malcontent my nearly undivided attention (placing only my family above my responsibilities here). It's gone from being a hobby to being an honest-to-God full-time job -- albeit one I'm not getting paid for, which is why your donations and purchases, though not necessary, are so appreciated.
This site means a lot to me.
I'm glad it means something to you too.
Thanks for reading.

Thank you for writing. Thank you for not sugar coating anything. Thank you for creating one of the very few things that are worth reading on the web - whatever the topic.
WE ARE NOT WORTHY!
Really, I feel like every piece posted is a treasure. And as the Republican campaign becomes blatantly obvious in its attempts to work the refs and the crowd, your perspective becomes more important, Chez.
Unfortunately, I can't support you buying a book -- I'm poor + been there, done that sort of thing. But if I can drive traffic here, I certainly will.
This is the first blog I've ever really read (well, the first without a webcomic attached to it, anyway.) I've been reading for a little over a year and a half. At first I just checked it at the end of the week, or when you posted something on MySpace, but for the past two weeks or so you've been so interesting that I've been checking the RSS feed 4 or 5 times a day to see what new stuff you've posted. It's great stuff. You're doing an amazing job. Just this past weekend I recommended your blog to 3 friends while we were discussing the Palin mess and the upcoming election, and I'll be recommending it to more of my friends, as well, because anyone with half a brain will get a big kick out of your insights, and learn something, to boot.
Keep up the great work. You've done a rad job so far.
Sapere aude.
Chez, You're blogs are pure awesomeness dude.

Australia
p.s. the polls show that McCain and Obama are head to head... that's so so so SO disturbing...
Goddamnit Chez, thank you for not leaving this issue alone.
love your site. It was a pleasant accidental meeting that has become a daily must do for me. I love that you are honest in what you say. Guess that is what comes with not having to answer to anyone. Keep being true to yourself and dont stop
XOXO
I am worried about Palin as well. And the picture that accompanies this post, and is often on your my space page, is very sexy!
Hi chez,
The time and effort you're putting into this comes out in the result -
one would expect good writing and content from a news professional, but yours is one of the best-written and most readable blogs out there. Keep up the good work.
About your book: before I fill in all the forms etc etc - do you deliver to Germany? If so, what's it all cost?
Thanks,
ian in hamburg (I'm also a tv news sluggo, but still working - not with CNN!)
I second Anonymous' sentiments. Outrage is easy, intelligent comment about the outrageous is sadly missing.
Thank you for saying what I am thinking, only better.
I've been reading for about two years now, maybe longer? I came here from a Pajiba link long ago. your site is one of the few I visit almost every day.
Thank *you*
I just hope that this year people get off their lazy asses and vote, because this IS important. It takes all of two seconds to fill in a little bubble, and if you have to stand in a line for an hour prior to those two little seconds and feel like you have better things you could be doing than just ask yourself this: Would you rather wait an hour or another four years? Right now, this is MOST IMPORTANT!
Chez,
Thank you for starting this little experiment in the first place. It actually inspired me to start my own launchpad for rants, and it's good to have company in the world of discontent with the way things are.
Keep up the good work - Mr. C
Thanks, Chez, for doing what you do. I've been reading you for well over a year. I don't even remember how I found you but I'm glad I did and I promote you to others when given the chance.
Don't let the bastards get you down!
Thanks for writing.
chez- its so wonderful, almost validating, to read your blog and know that i'm not the only one so infuriated over this woman. everyone i talk to, save for a few select non-brainwashed people, is in full support of palin. i live in virginia, a state that votes republican almost 100% of the time, and its depressing to know that after i cast my vote, and the electoral college does its thing, it will be as if i, as well as every other democrat in the state, had never voted at all.
Ah, my dear Chez...I used your wonderful "Speed of Lies" just yesterday (copied and pasted..yes, stole it, but I DID give you credit) in response to a forward I got (that had gone thru about 6 forwards before I got it) in response to the legality of Obama's birth!!! Oddly enough, even though I replied to each and every person who had received the forward at some point, I have gotten zero responses.... as Arthur Weasley says, "The Truth Will Out!"
You have provided us with entertainment, sadness, laughter, a peak into your life as well as into our own dark souls, and are now helping us find a place where we can come together and VENT--the few, the proud, those who DARE to educate themselves about the facts before spreading another innuendo-laden email!!!
Oh, and you show us cute baby pictures, too.....
Chez,
Keep it up. I have read the site since about a month after you started. I find myself telling friends everyday to visit your site because of something that I read here. The book was great, the writing and commentary is phenomenal, and you have a wicked sense of humor. I look forward to each new post.
Even though we don't talk like we used to, I still consider you a special human being and a good friend. Your writing is so good it is almost transcendant. I wish I had half of your talent and understanding of the world. We love you Chez. Despite whatever you may have done, you are loved by us. I know I am rooting like hell for you. I love a good Cinderella story.
Chez:
Appreciate you stepping up on this issue and holding the torch...We need to mobilize the US to wake the hell up...This is going to come down to the damn wire and may be the scariest shit I have ever witnessed. I really think that an "uh-huh" moment must happen where we all say, "wow" that was a close call and get on with a new leadership and doing what needs to be done. But man, it seems everyday we're one step closer to America officially collapsing in this stunt. Keep rockin!
Chez:
Here is some excellent motivation. Charlie Rose had Thomas Friedman two nights ago. Wow: http://www.charlierose.com/shows/2008/09/09/1/a-conversation-with-thomas-l-friedman
