A Call to Arms

"I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face. And if they tell you that, 'Well, we're not sure where he stands on guns.' I want you to say, 'He believes in the Second Amendment.' If they tell you, 'Well, he's going to raise your taxes,' you say, 'No, he's not, he's going lower them.' You are my ambassadors. You guys are the ones who can make the case."

-- Barack Obama, in Elko, NV yesterday

Do zealously pro-Obama/anti-McCain Facebook statuses count? Because if so, I'm already well committed to this cause.

Not much to do here in CT so the Mrs. and me are heading to PA.

A call to arms, people. There is too much at stake her to sit idly by.

In other news: Palin is proposing to reform Washington with something that not only already exists, but was put in place by Barack Obama.

Having just driven through Elko, NV three days ago (and having stopped at the Starbucks located within the Red Lion Casino that had been advertised on billboards for upwards of 280 miles prior), I can't help but feel that the local residents will continue to vote against their own best interests and their familes welfare. I know it was just a teeny slice of NV, but other than the lit up like the forth of July casinos, the town is terribly economically depressed and one for which social services seem to be non-existantant (based on the number of babies in their strollers parked beside electronic poker machines and the guy with no teeth who offered my husband his wife at the gas station for twenty bucks).

I would just like to add that, while I am educated and liberal, I live in a town of 1200 at 8500 feet and am not just spouting off an urban bias against the fly-over states. These people are in desperate need for an Obama administration coupled with a democratic congress.

That's right!

...and suicide bombers can make the case for Osama Bin Laden...

I'm sorry, Danny -- what the hell are you talking about?

Interesting how Obama is telling his supporters in cali via email, to drive to Nevada and work some districts...it must truly be so close.

If I were him, I'd make that assumption.

I'm trying, I'm trying....my GOD I'm trying....but I am getting little help in my economically depressed small town. I am working with the regional Obama office, trying to recruit local people to help me canvass, make phone calls, do ANYTHING! The rep from the regional office and I have met with the county Democratic leaders and THEY won't even give us much support, because they are all still smarting over Hillary's defeat! Good Lord, people!!! Our community has lost several manufacturing ventures along with smaller businesses, taking countless jobs with them, on every block in town are at least 4-6 houses for sale, some that have been available for over a year or more.....and STILL these people can't understand. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result...thus, electing McCain will only result in 4 more years of our community, and the entire country, dying a little bit more.

Nice quote. His teleprompter must have not gone out.

Todd, if you're gonna make a negative comment, at least have it be something that's remotely based in reality.

Funny...his voting record in the senate says otherwise. Obama consistently voted against 2nd Ammendment rights.
