Hokey Mom

Well, I have no idea how I'm going to continue writing for this site considering that I just lost about 20 points off my IQ watching that fucking speech.

Time to go to bed and dream of a world that doesn't resemble a Dali painting. More tomorrow.

I thought she killed. Don't underestimate her. This makes things so much more interesting now.

Oh she did kill. But look at her audience.

That giant sucking sound was the Republicans going down the drain and taking parts of our brains with them. That's the only way they can win, by turning us all into clones of Trig (oops, looks like my own evil twin just slipped out)

Sheeple. The fact that it was delivered well, and it was, doesn't discount the fact that it was written for someone else and tailored for her. Pure party line and little else. Anyone else notice the visual of her daughter, "I don't want kids" future in-law and the baby positioned for maximum exposure? Given that this will all be well received by people like my mother, I'm going to be sick now.

My brain hurts. And I didn't see all of it because my husband turned off the TV before my head exploded.

I watched the whole thing and I have lost the will to live.

Please send help.

Well, I can't sleep. I just had a two hour fit of rage watching that smug cow. I got into a huge fight with a former friend-with-benefits over my status on facebook, posted during the start of my fit of rage. He had the nerve to put this as his status: "Jason is tired of seeing people's opinions polluting up his status message screen, especially when they're so divisive. One country, one people, one planet."

Let's hope few independents like him do NOT feel this way! I'm too pissed to even write this in my blog. I'll curse his weak ass out again.

I've officially reached the point where continuing to follow politics closely is just bad for me... Makes it hard to focus on my work, etc, just too enraging, too surreal.

Saying you're a born-again Christian is a license to lie, cheat, steal, make bad decisions, let your teenage daughter get pregnant, and be a raging asshole... because your "intentions" are good and you're forgiven.

Well FUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOUUUUUU

I feel like weeping, because this does exactly what will win the GOP the election - pander to the lowest common denominator.

The problem with this country is there are far too many people that believe the tripe that spewed from Mrs. Karl Rove for 45 minutes, and don't get that it was as hollow as her head.

While I do believe there is intelligent life in this country, I don't believe there is enough of us to get intelligent life back into the white house.

This appealed to the American Idol crowd, which, as we all know, turns out in record numbers compared to the American Electorate.

May God have mercy on our souls. Oh, wait, she's busy fighting wars and building natural gas pipelines for Sarah Palin.

ALL HOPE IS LOST.

please make fun of the way they passed around her little child like a fucking baton. The sight of John McCain's wife holding that baby will haunt my dreams for decades...

And the close-ups of Juno or whatever they're callling her harlot daughter made me vomit.

Where's Garth?

This man defriended me. I was the bigger person even though I was appalled by anyone who could defend Republicans after watching this speech, and listening to reports of her record all week.

His nasty wife had to step into the argument, because she patrols his FB page, with this:

Yeah, some folks out there are so uniformed that they won't even be able to tell you where each candidate stance is on the issues are even AFTER the debates. The fact that Joe Lieberman is getting kicked out for having a positive opinion about another man's character and for sharing his testimonial - first-hand eyewitness of McCain in action crossing party lines to get things done - while Obama could not. He's getting kicked out of his own party! I guess the freedom of speech only works ONE WAY in this country. The way most of these posts come across you'd think that these single women who are self-proclaimed artists prefer the woman's role and position in the white house to be on her knees giving the president head in the ORAL office. Right. I see. Self-proclaimed intellectuals. They need to read Toscanini's life story to understand why I will not idly sit by and allow the bullshit to be smeared in my virtual backyard: Facebook. Get a clue ladies!

I am scared that these sentiments are coming from a woman, and an independent. Maybe she's just one dumb bitch...

Sure you can still write, Chez.

Hand them back their bullshit in their hats!

I am sick now that Ron Paul isn't the default Libertarian candidate. He might have pulled enough votes away from the republican machine to ensure victory for the dems. Bob Barr is going to drive them TO McCain/Palin.

Her speech reminded me somehow of the movie Idiocracy. Can't imagine why.

Whoever said earlier that their mother would love this...well I am not sure if my mom will vote for her but the rest of my nutty family will. She makes me ill. I don't think I can stand another four years of watching this freaking country turn into some kind of stupid sitcom, not that it hasn't already. Whatever happened to wanting intelligent, thoughtful people as leaders? She is like some prison guard - "Fuck with me and I will mess you up, mf!". I walked door to door two weekends ago...guess I am going to sell the kids and some bonds. We have to defeat these people and take our country back....before they start bombing some other place, or take all the condoms out of the drug stores.....or start telling women to stay home and learn to make gravy. I don't want a war hero running the country. I don't want some sort of educated person running for vice-president.

I told my husband last night, if these people get elected.....OMG.

Carol in Indiana of all places

Gunny --

I'll be going there a little later today in my post.

In the morning light, I'm calming down. This happened in 1992. Pat Buchanan gave a red-meat culture war speech at the convention (which is all that was last night). It scared everyone to the left to him, the Democrats stayed on message "It's the economy, stupid," and reason prevailed.

I think the same thing will happen this time. We cannot be this stupid. Women do not want to bear their rapist's babies at the point of a gun. This country does not want more wars for the sake of "staying on the offense." $10 billion a month in Iraq, people. Senator Obama, please stay on message. It's the economy, stupid.

So, uh, Ms. Fifth Generation, you, uh, maybe might be lookin' for a new friend with benefits?

Gunny,
I was thinking the speech came across more like some Monty Python sketch where Idle or Cleese would say something insulting or insipid, and then there would be [fake] wild applause, and then would continue on with more insults and idiocy and there would be more canned wild applause. I don't think there's a specific sketch I'm thinking of, but her speech had a general Python-esque quality to it that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It might have been the wild applause over trite nothings.

I actually had to turn the TV in the middle of that shit. I couldn't take it. I was so disgusted that I decided to just go to bed early or I was going to hurt something.

xoch said...

Be afraid, yes.
But we knew this was going to be tough. Democrats need to stay on the message, and focus on swing states.
This moron (or Karl Rove, whoever wrote that speech) is actually pretty astute, but a lot of people in the U.S. are in a pretty tight corner with five dollars in their back pocket right now. A lot of them are dissappointed, and they have seen Iraq for what it is. They might just be enough to kick the Republicans out of office.

-----------------------------

It's only a license to do so if the ignorant people around you let you use it thus. Not all Christians and not all who call themselves born-again would accept a complete "wipe of the record" and just give a person a pass.

But, as Chez noted, we are dealing with a frightened, under-educated contingent that the GOP is courting to overwhelm the voting booths.

Being born again is about being right with GOD, not justifying your actions on Earth and getting off. We should still be forced to be accountable for our actions here on Earth when they violate the law, hurt others, show hypocrisy, etc. In other words, all the stuff that Palin has in spades. Whether the masses will give her a pass or not remains to be seen. I hope not, but I fear they might.

See, this is the kind of narrow-mindedness typically of you elitist know-nothings.

Everyone knows ZEUS is the real thunderbolt guy. GOD is more into fire and brimstone.

And if Sodom and Gomorrah and the flood are any indication, his aim pretty much sucks, and he is too lazy to practice more.

So he will probably blast the whole country sky high and start over.

VOTAR said...

Deacon, my friend,

Transform your fear into action. Don't let the frightened and under-educated contingent give her a pass. Ease their fears, educate them.

They won't come to blogs like this, and other sources of alternative information, to allow themselves to be exposed to the inevitable doubts that will arise. They won't listen to the rest of us; this is, ironically, the "choir" they don't want to hear. You've had the bravery and temperance to visit here and consort with those of us who clearly do not share your view of the world, and if you are as troubled by the idea of a McCain/Palin administration as it appears you might be, it begs to be pointed out that you should get out there and be that lighthouse to help point the way.

They might listen to you, and to others like you.

I suspect there are many more of you out there, Christian, religious, etc., never the less very nervous about the direction this is heading, but resigned to silence because, well, "at least she's one of us." I suspect that unless there arises a vocal opposition to McCain/Palin from within the "faith" community -- a movement dedicated to pointing out that despite what a familiar face she might be to the Sunday morning crowd, she is DANGEROUSLY unqualified to even look at the keys to our nation's nuclear arsenal -- that silence will implicitly facilitate the really frightening period of American history we're on the brink of falling into.

What do you say? Might there be room over there between the Hummus Idol and the (intriguing, by the way...) snippets of your novel, to start that dialog, and say "hey, my friends, is anyone else just a little bothered by this like I am?"

Inaction and silence -- hoping and fearing while it "remains to be seen" -- will only be a vote of confidence, otherwise.

Deacon Blue said...

Really, Chez, lighting bolts are so overdone. And brimstone too, frankly. I was thinking something more along the lines of ordering up a Cat 5 Hurricane to carry her off to Oz. Yeah, I know Dorothy rode a tornado, but Dorothy was a sweetheart, whereas Sarah Palin is more like the wicked witch packaged up in the nice witch's body...

And Votar, actually, I will likely be commenting on this crap. I have actually touched on the politics before and I've expressed my support of Obama in the past on my blog. I don't know how many NASCAR/moose hunter/angry ex-POWs/etc. are coming over to visit me, but believe me, I have some shit to say about all this (cuz I'm frightneed for the direction of this country), for people on the Dem side, GOP side, and anyone in between. Once I'm past my immediate work deadlines and my dad heads back home, that is.
;-)
