If You Don't Have Something Nice to Say...

You might have noticed that I refrained from mentioning the death of Jesse Helms a few weeks back -- the reason being that I can't for the life of me find one good thing to say about the man and dancing on his grave is beneath even me.

Now, as if God himself were engaging in a little housecleaning down here, far-right icon and all-around bilious toad Bob Novak has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

I honestly wouldn't wish that kind of suffering on anyone, not even an evil bastard like Novak. But to give you an idea of the kind of enmity he inspires among his many detractors -- quite a few of whom would be more than happy to publicly revel in his suffering -- the Huffington Post has chosen to disable the comment section on its story about Novak's illness.

They sure as hell didn't do that for Ted Kennedy.

Well that and it's hard to make jokes about Robert Novak that the general public will understand. At least with Kennedy they have years of material to draw on, as well as the theory that "if we don't make fun of him, then we're mocking him even more."

Speaking of Teddy Bear, I heard the possibility of a genetically engineered virus being used to wipe out his cancer. I wonder, is our dear Ted Kennedy going to become a darkseeker?

See this confirms what I've always known, Mr. Novak has a brain. If he had a HEART problem I'd be skeptical of the doctors, or at least the diagnosis.
I know you've had a brain tumor and the turmoil that goes with it is personal. My brother died of a brain tumor, so as with you, I have seen the horror of what they can do. Yet, I can't help but be cynical of the timing. Last week he's tooling about town, running over pedestrians and making attempts to flee the scene, today he has a brain tumor. Color me perplexed.
I don't wish him pain and that is the only way this can end in some ways, so I wish him well, with the caveat that he has to retire. I'm a flawed human being and that is the best I can do.

Good comment all the way around.

In all honesty, and with a mea culpa as big as O'Reilly's head and attendant ego, I should point out that I just read a report from a neuro-surgeon, that when patients are involved in accidents and show no recognition of their involvement, they check for brain tumors because that is an occasional symptom. My cynicism has been brokered for a feeling of idiocy and heartlessness. I've never gotten the Chez stamp of approval for a post, and now I have to recant. Shit.

I wonder if that is the source of his evil...

I'll repeat my thoughts from what our media made into "The Glorious Demise Of Tony Snow." A sleazy, truthless, partisan sack of shit with cancer is STILL a sleazy, truthless, partisan sack of shit.

Call me cynical, but I find it interesting the information about his cancer comes out immediately after hitting a pedestrian.

I hope Mr. Novak learns compassion and empathy while being treated for his tumor.
