Listening Post

Every time I hear this, I stand in awe of what a perfect pop song it is.

Here's a live version of Doves' Catch the Sun.

Gotta love those Doves. I don't know how they fared in the US (I'm guessing not that great)butthey are one of the great almost-huge bands of the late 90's/early noughties. Maybe it's that they're not so photo-friendly or that they never came right out and attacked the competition, but they'll always be special to me. Even if my friend did ruin the gig when he became convinced someone had stabbed him in the liver with a syringe. It was in the papers a lot at the time, and the weed was really good that night. Aah, memories. Also whenever I leave a place I've been living, I listen to The House. Gets me every time.

how weird. i have my ipod on shuffle mode right now and out of over 5000 fucking songs that could have played, that song just finished as i scrolled down to look at this post. i'm little creeped out now.

Your next song will be After the Loving by Englebert Humperdinck.

That chord change in the first verse always just does something to me; pure perfection.
