Define Irony

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. When they finally lock up Lou Dobbs for generally being an asshole, I'm going to petition to have thousands of prints of this used as wallpaper in his cell -- just to torture him.

(Photo courtesy of Amy Claeys, a very nice reader who takes kick-ass photos of rock bands for a living. The little girl in the shot is her daughter, Charlotte.)

Amy showed me this pic this morning and it cracked me up. It is actually her daughter in the pic, but her son was the one that asked the initial question of why the American flags were made in China. Man. I would have loved to be there to explain it to him.

My bad -- corrected. (Sorry Amy.)

I was on a Patriot Guard ride a couple of months ago...someone was handing out flags to greet the homecoming soldier. Sure enough, the flags we were using to greet a guy that had done three tours in Iraq were made in China.

Damn shame.

It's ok. I think the only one it would really matter to is my son.. and since he won't see it, we are all well and good :) Great post!

I never thought I'd have to explain basic comparative advantage to someone of your supreme intellect, but it looks like I will have to....wait, no I don't. You prove your lack of understanding of even the most basic of concepts on a daily basis.

There's nothing ironic about a US Flag being made in China. Would we be a better country if they were made here? No.

And yet you read, on a daily basis no less.

Sorry, who's the idiot?

If you think the flag thing is bad, how about a color postcard of the Pearl Harbor Memorial...printed in Japan.

My wife has one of those postcards.
