Listening Post

On more than one occasion, I've mentioned my love for the Sneaker Pimps.

Despite the level of success they achieved in the mid-90s with uber-pixie Kelli Ali on vocals, they've actually cranked out better material in the post-Kelli era, with Chris Corner playing frontman. Either way though, they're a great band.

First up, from 1996, Post Modern Sleaze.

And, from 1999, Low Five.

I love their cover of Duran Duran's "The Chauffeur." I actually prefer it to the original.

Maybe it was because my musical tastes were changing quite a bit after Becoming X came out, but I didn't like the direction of their latter stuff without Ali. Ali, coincidentally went on to make some productions I think were top notch, one of my favorites was Satoshi Tomiie's Love in Traffic. She's as hypnotic as ever in that track. I'm also still bitter I lost my copy of Becoming Remixed.
